Caitlyn Jenner Wants Ricky Gervais Fired From Globes

"Caityn Jenner broke her silence on Ricky Gervais's Golden Globe jokes, declaring she'd like to replace him.

"On Ricky, I think what I'm gonna do is call the Golden Globes and see if they need a new host for next year," said, Jenner said at the Television Critics Association winter tour in Pasadena, Calif.  "And we'll solve that problem.""

Comedians make insensitive jokes, that's how they earn their living. We laugh when the joke is at the expense of those who aren't us, don't we? Cait must have writers with the skill to create stunning retorts (Gervais has writers). i mourn the good will opportunity that was missed. Calling for dismissal is petty and inept.

At first, I thought "Wow, maybe she's actually being an advocate" but realized Gervais was personally attacking her and probably provoked her ego.  She has done more damage to the community than Gervais has and her replacing him would only have a negative effect for the rest of us.

Besides, I watched what he said.  He wasn't even saying anything transphobic; he was saying something Jennerphobic.  We can't internalize every remark made against Caitlyn as a personal assault to our own gender status.  She doesn't represent me any more than Sarah Palin does.

i usually have no right to comment on such issues IMO, but:

she sounds pretty uptight and entitled and Gervais has a point. Whatever happened to all the controversy surrounding the car crash? I mean, stand by what happened, Caitlyn, you're not exempt from the law and don't act offended.
This is pretty childish.

And I usually stay out of the whole Jenner thing, i don't like gossip media.

I can't see how Mr. Gervais jab regarding Ms. Jenner's driving was is in anyway transphobic.  The insensitive, inaccurate joke not directed at her about tucking that results in bulldog looking balls was highly inappropriate and extremely offensive.

My assignment at the Golden Globes Awards gave me the feeling that Hollywood is getting 'transed-out'.
Hollywood does not appear to have a problem exploiting our stories they're just not too interested in employing us.  Bad jokes about genital tucking and wigs does not help.  Not much love shown by the Hollywood Foreign Press towards #GirlsLikeUs.

Thanks for the Hollywood insight. It's too bad they are in charge of defining culture.

I personally found the image of a room full of rich, successful celebrities laughing about the fairly recent death of a human being in a car accident far more problematic.

And anyway, the really transphobic comments came after when talking about Jeffrey Tambor. Gervais has a history of this, and it speaks volumes that he chose to spend the first section of his speech talking about trans issues.
