OK, I'm slow ... I should have done this years ago, but today I took my surgery letter and my filled-out "records change request" into the DMV, and now my Driver's License says "Sex:  F" ... The way it should be!  Strange how such a little thing can make you feel so good.
It took a lot of doing, but I take a lot of pride in what I am.

Roberto,

i will be doing the same thing in a few more weeks.

I have decided to not change my birth certificate because I want a paper trail left intact to prove my original identity to ensure my government pensions keep coming.

What state do you live in? I am in Florida.

Congrats, I've done that one (even though there is no gender marker in Australia on license), still not done the birth certificate
I will touch a 100 flowers and not pick one.

Hi Dani ... I'm in New Hampshire.  And an update:  I now also have my "F" on my passport and my social security records & Medicare Card along with my Driver's license.  I also have a new birth certificate that says "Female" ... So all of my ID is now converted over.  A very unique feeling indeed.  And tomorrow I'm heading to the airport with all of my new ID to board a flight to California, where I will rent a car with my new ID ... Should be interesting.
It took a lot of doing, but I take a lot of pride in what I am.
