Armed with a briefing book and a scouting report the size of a small encyclopedia, Gavin Newsom - the mayor of very urban, very liberal San Francisco - found himself traveling for hours across an eerie landscape of ice-shrouded trees and tiny towns tucked...

I'm sure he was happy to leave.  I was.

Ya...I was all to happy to leave that state myself! Talk about backwards too. I once asked someone where I could find some foreign magazines in French...and the response I got was 'Why on earth would anyone want to read those?' And, no, there wasn't anyplace in the state to get my overseas news magazines...I was more than glad to leave there...
