"Stormi decided to join the Girl Scouts last fall, Stormi's foster mom, Kim, told BuzzFeed News.

Stormi was put into foster care and placed with Kim three years ago through an emergency placement plan. She told Kim she wanted to donate cookies to other kids in foster care.

"I like to sell cookies because it's very nice to sell cookies," Stormi told BuzzFeed News. She said the cookies "make people smile.""

So awesomely uplifting. The girl scouts are awesome for their inclusiveness.

True.  My parents made me be in the Boy Scouts and I hated it.  It had sort of a paramilitary cast, with no tolerance for people who were different (atheists, gays, etc.).  But the Girl Scouts are a whole different animal - inclusive and empowering for girls.

What an amazing little girl - way to go Stormi and Kudos to to the Girl Scouts.

As an aside and we'll see what happens, we recently had a trans-boy approach one of the troops in our Council about joining a Boy Scout Troop.

This article is inspiring, and it's heartening to see the level of support given by the general community. Times are changing!  :)

I'll admit, my mother made me join the girl scouts decades before I knew I was a trans guy, and I hated it. Back then, I didn't want to hang out with a bunch of girls, but cookie time made it worth my while.  Today, I have a much different perspective. I'm proud to have been a part of the girl scouts. I picked up some skills during those years and had fun. But the main reason I'm so proud to have been a girl scout is knowing what my alternative would have been had I been born a boy. I think you all know where this is going, referring to the boy scouts of America and their "attitudes" toward LGBT people. The Girl Scouts are so much better!
