What do dreams tell us?

Has anyone ever felt like their dreams are telling them the right thing to do?

Last night I dreamt I caught my reflection in a mirror, and it was a 100% female reflection. I stood and looked at myself for ages, unable to stop myself from smiling. I was bitterly disappointed on waking to remember I don't actually look like that.

I'm pre everything, apart from recently starting therapy for my Gender issues, and although I'm still sure I don't want SRS, I feel like this was my subconscious pushing me towards a decision.

What do people think? Am I reading too much into what was little more than a nice dream?

that's the favorite past time of my therapist is to interpret dreams. It makes her day when I come in with a boat load of dreams.

I enjoy interpreting dreams as well. Tooks several courses at school and I can almost always remember my dreams. They are the reflection of subconscious desires if you believe Sigmund Freud. I have a bachelor's in Psychology. ;)

I had a dream the other night where I was a guy, flirting with girls, making out with one girl, then later making out with another one. I was really BAD, like a "player" and that is TOTALLY not me, the opposite of who I was pre-transition and perhaps a truer reflection of myself now, BUT more my fantasies, than what I would actually do because it's wrong. So, dreams can indeed reflect our repressed wishes, a part of us that we do not express, perhaps my masculine/sexual/flirty side, etc. It's for you to find out through your feelings and intuition. Talking about it also helps and can unravel something interesting. :)

Dreams are likely a projection of what is worrying you all the time  in your real life but you cant control it because it is your subconscious .  Dreams are unique and the elements composing it are people and things that has great impact on you.

I remember when i broke with my girlfriend for transition, i was having nightmares every night about me trying to come back with her but each dreams were different scenarios but i failed to get her back every time.  I missed her so much it was just normal that i was dreaming of her.

I had a dream of dracula  and she was in this dream.  Ive read online after that dreaming of dracula and waking him is a sign that something is very preoccuping you and that you need to run away from this situation before it takes you down.  It is a situation that you just cant handle ( in my case it was to give up on my ex-gf and i did it)

For transition, i remember countless time dreaming i was a girl, that i had half-body of a woman,  that i came out ..  I even remember having a dream where i was a child (7-8 year old) and that my parents dressed me with girl clothes and i was blowing candle on my birthday cake. ..Those should have been signs but i was ignoring them.

If EVEN when you are inactive you think of transition then i think you should see a gender therapist because it preoccupy you for sure.

So yes, dreams are talking to us.

Thanks for the replies everybody.  :)

archlord...this is pretty much the situation that I'm in now. Where even when I'm not thinking about it, my gender is always playing at the back of my mind. Chances are the dream was indeed my mind telling me what I already know, but am nervous about confronting.

I have a couple of months of therapy to get through, but I think I'll be asking to see a gender therapist at the end of it. Also I'm looking into attending a nearby Trans/Non-Binary support group.  :)

A dream is your subconscious mind reminding you what you're concerned about or what you desire emotionally.  This dream clearly shows your longing for a female persona.  Welcome the information it presents.  But remember that dreams don't have logic or planning, or analysis.  If you're considering transition, think long and hard about the decision - with all the resources of your conscious mind.

I'm taking the dream as a sort of subconscious confirmation of my feelings. It's easier to think you're just imagining the symptoms, even when they've been present for years, so it's nice to get a helpful nudge from my brain.  ;)

Mine Too... Well actually even one works for her

I tend to see dreams as your mind working without the blinders or filters on. In our conscious state there are many filters to what we think is possible to do or other alternatives we immediately dismiss out of hand. In dreams we are unimpeded in what can be possible.

In my latest exciting adventure in dreamland (:P) I dreamt I went to a school reunion, only I was once again 100% passing as a female. Then today, I woke up to an email confirming an initial appointment with a local Transgender group, so they can see what support they can offer me.

So, it's all go now.  :)
