Trump: Expect More 'Heart,' LGBT Rights Progress During My Presidency

http://www.advocate.com/politicians/2016/2/05/trump-expect-more-heart-lgbt-rights-progress-during-my-presidency

The Advocate/By Daniel Reynolds February 05 2016 2:45 PM EST

"Donald Trump wants to "bring people together."

This is what he said this week to Sue O'Connell, a lesbian reporter who asked the Republican candidate if he would advance LGBT rights during his presidency.

"When President Trump is in office, can we look for more forward motion on equality for gays and lesbians?" the NECN reporter inquired in a video interview posted Thursday. Preceding the question, O'Connell identified herself as a lesbian to Trump and noted the recent "great progress for the gay and lesbian community.""

There's an anagram of "heart" that fits him much better. I won't write it on account of TOS-whatever, but... just sayin'.

I watched the interview.  What he actually said was rather vague so it's difficult to predict what, if anything, he will do.

And yet he pledged to reverse marriage equality.

Another segment, I suppose, for that great Colbert sequence pointing out all Trump's inconsistent statements where he debates himself.

I suspect Trump has no idea what he would do if he won the presidency. He seems to just make it all up on the run.
That said out of the Republican options he would at least be fun. Crazy and tacky that is but still fun.

Honestly if people are stupid enough to give that a**hat 4 years in the oval office, not only will life be hell for Mexicans, Muslims, Asians, Middle and low class... but for us too. My dad is for Trump and is trying to sway me that way... No thanks.

I mean the guy is HONESTLY a modern day Hitler... thats all he is... Hitler. I would not be surprised if EVERY Immigrant (Legal or in process of legalization) had to wear something like  a patch denoting they are immigrants. I also would not be surprisd if everyone in the LGBT community had to wear a type of patch denoting they are transgender.

Do you think he would honestly make it easy for us to transition? Do you think he would allow for us to actually seek out supported medical help about it and actually keep it as a benefit on insurance?
No... I honestly do not think he would. I think if elected he would attempt to abolish it all federally. And likely succeed, hell the guy has wall-street and like a large basket full of politician in his back pocket.

Godwin's law (or Godwin's rule of Nazi analogies)[1][2] is an Internet adage asserting that "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1"[2][3]—that is, if an online discussion (regardless of topic or scope) goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Hitler or Nazism.

Well, in this case it looks pretty accurate, especially the way his supporters act like Brownshirts from 1933.

My prediction is that 6 months into a Trump Presidency he would quit after the latest of his crackpot ideas is shot down as illegal or unworkable. Probably after attempting to rename the "White House"  to "Trump House"

Like Obama shutting down Guantanamo prison the President does not rule by fiat and the power is restricted by congress, courts, states and also the bureaucracy. Which is reassuring but I am still hoping for Bernie or Hillary.

I despise Trump. but to descend into reality, if one of them is going to win, would you not rather have Trump rather than some righteous evangelical?  Trump has no personal ideological position on anything, he just wants to win.  The other possible candidates are true believers.

There's a terrifying corollary to Godwin's law: if another Hitler finds their way to power, the naysayers will have been shouted down by cries of "Godwin's Law!"

Just gonna leave this right here: http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/feb/06/donald-trump-waterboarding-republican-debate-torture

any hints, this is excruciatingly annoying given the fact that my brain cannot compute anagrams. I think it's a genetic defect I have.

Starts with "H", rhymes with "later".

He tried to wear a hat once.  His hair ate it.

And yet he pledged to reverse marriage equality.

He said he would consider judges who would reverse it...after saying he would not support a constitutional amendment and that the ruling was the law of the land. He also said previously that he believes that Sexual Orientation should be added to the Civil Rights Act. He is hard to read, but every other Republican candidate who seemingly has a snowball's chance (Cruz, Rubio) has pledged to support a constitutional amendment that allows discrimination (Indiana style "Religious Freedom") and bans marriage equality and have made very vocal transphobic statements.

I want to move to the US and the idea of Trump becoming president freaks me out. Even though I'm a white European, it still terrifies me because I'm trans and not Christian, and what he says scares me. And I'm also a big supporter of Latinos.
No, I don't think he would make the life of LGBT people of any ethnicity easier. And immigrants? Sounds like he wants to build walls around America and make other countries pay for it!
