So after 267 days of waiting and going to Northampton Gender Clinic, I've been approved to start hormones! Yay!
I had my 4th appointment yesterday with Dr Timmins and he's going to put me on Leuprorelin Acetate and Estradiol.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same hormones and has anything to share about them? Experiences, pros & cons etc.

I'm so excited! Just got to wait a few days for a letter from the clinic and I'll be able to book an appointment at the GP to get my prescription!

Congratulations!

I'm on Estradiol, but I'm not on Leuprorelin Acetate.  Apparently, it's a lot like Spironolactone, which is what I am using, and Leurprorelin Acetate is normally used for younger folks to prevent puberty (only what I read on Wikipedia).

I've made very good progress!  Transitioning has had a very positive impact on my goals; however, I am still unsure of the social aspects as I am not out yet.  I think people are getting the clue, though, because the HRT has been working really well.

Not quite. Leuprolide Acetate shuts of testicular production of T (and E, as T converts to E) by stopping the production of LH (luteinizing hormone) after several weeks of overstimulating its production (desensitization). Spironolactone, on the other hand, does not reduce LH, can even increase it (due to anti-androgenic action) BUT reduces production of T through inhibiting 17 hydroxylation, increases T to E conversion, blocks androgen by competitively binding to androgen receptors, displaces E from SHBG thus increasing E bio-availability, may inhibit T to DHT conversion and slightly (although negligibly, I think) increase progesterone levels. Spiro also reduces blood pressure through increasing sodium loss and increasing potassium retention. Spiro is multifaceted, while leuprolide only does one thing.

I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004
Post-op since late 2005

Congrats!!  :D

Thanks much!

My letter arrived yesterday and I went and picked up my prescription! I've got my estrogen, but will have to wait until Monday to pick up my Anti-Androgens as the pharmacy had to order them.
Feels super super great to have finally started! Yay!
