Saturday will be 10 months and I've yet to achieve a natural 'male fail'.  I started injections last week (switching over from patches) but still have yet to be gendered correctly when I am out and about. 

At 43, I know it varies from person to person, but..what was the estimated time frame for everyone here.  Include ages, if possible. 

I'm 56 and it was about 2 months ago at around 11 months on HRT.  It's not every time though, especially since I have to wear a tie to work.  I have noticed though that I rarely get called sir anymore so maybe I mostly confuse people.

Dana, I'd be surprised if we see a consistent timeframe for this. There are a lot of variables.

I think two things help me.  I have been working on diet and exercise and have lost lots of weight (35 lbs) since I started.  And I am lucky in never having any hair loss and I haven't cut it since Dec 2014.  Plus I cheated and dyed the gray out LOL.

I'm one of the lucky ones even at starting at age 43 and being 6'7" (now a more reasonable but still very tall 6'5" thanks to HRT) I started getting male fail at 3 months on HRT, but some people could still tell I was trans. I started out on pills and at 7 months HRT switched to injections. 5 months later, I had even more feminine changes in my face even to the point where someone I had not seen in a year before I transitioned, but had heard I was transitioning didn't recognize me until she saw my wife in the room 20 minutes later.

You have fairly feminine face, So I would say hang in there because going from patches to injections (which is way better than patches IMHO) is going to really improve things quite a bit. In a few months I think you are going to see some significant changes. BTW, love the necklace , I think I might have seen you on ->-bleeped-<- and commented on it.

I'm 30 and it took me approximately 12 months

It took me a long time... way longer than the most common estimates you'll see here. (Which, honestly, I feel like some of the expectations set by internet transition timelines really aren't being very realistic.)

I finally first started getting gendered female in unisex clothes around the 13 month mark. I was getting gendered female more or less exclusively, regardless of the clothes I was wearing, by around the 18-month mark. It wasn't until my 2-year mark where I finally started personally feeling comfortable enough to wear unisex clothes in public, because I was confident that I probably couldn't pass as male even if I tried. Now at 3 years I know it to be true, with my boobs and butt and skin texture plus all of the female behavior/mannerisms that I've inherited since transitioning, I'd probably just look like a dyke if I cut my hair short and tried to act "male."

I'm 30, by the way, and started hormones when I was 27.

I'm still not in male fail mode. My forehead is big and my MPB is bad enough that I'll get clocked immediately if I go out without a hat or a wig. So I never really had male-fail. When I went out with my wig, I pretty much passed. Before that, I was a dude.

I'm not sure exactly when it was.  I started HRT in March of last year and was full time by June and generally got gendered correctly at that point.  I had a couple of minor incidents, including one just the other day, but I have been in male fail at least since I had my FFS and BA at the 6 month mark.  I've been lucky in that I have fairly girlish features and have been pretty much passable since I started transitioning.

On ->-bleeped-<- it was indeed me.   My collar is my friend.  I will be given a more femme one soon, but this one will not be far from home..

Tomorrow will be injection number two (Hope I can do it by myself) and Saturday will be 10 months.   I have to say that the slow process has been beneficial for my confidence.
