Hi ended up getting stitches today after a small cut simply would not clot. They said aspirin is partially responsible but were still  shocked at the extent of the bleeding. Could I have a problem that might interfere with surgery?. I realise there's no doctors here but thoughts nonetheless appreciated.

There is a blood test that can be run to check your clotting factor but from my understanding, it takes a fair amount of blood to run. If you are worried about it, check with your doctor. Should there be a problem, you should consider doctors who have a full medical facility available to preform any major surgeries you have planed because there are ways to control bleeding but they may not be available in a clinic environment.

I tend to bleed more than normal so if I am going to have a major procedure, I mention it to the doctor early on so they address any bleeder and don't rely on clotting to take care of them. So far I have not needed replacement blood in the surgeries I have had.

If bleeding is a problem for you, you should consider some other pain reliever than aspirin. I only take it once in a while and I use it as little as possible.

Coagulation factors are measured among many other blood tests done before any significant surgery. You would also be instructed  which medication to avoid for weeks or month prior, including supplements like multivitamins if vitE is present, etc... All such pills aspirin or ibuprofen or likes would be forbidden, and paracetamol is generally the only one you can take during the weeks prior.

Given your experience, make shure to let any potential surgeon of yours aware of this accident, early enough, so you can make one appropriate test done like a month before surgery, additionally to the one that is usually done a day or two prior surgery.

How much aspirin had you had - -  and how long before the cut finger ?

2 hours before the cut and the lowest strength aspirin . it was about 7 hours later before I got to a doctor and it was still bleeding as badly. It was alarming, how badly I bled,from quite a small cut,its making me a little bit concerned going forward. If I bleed this badly will anyone operate? And of my health in general ? Thanks to those who responded ☺

Don't worry, before its known what was the reason. they can perform surgery even on patient s with such problem (you don't know if you have it or it was only because of aspirin use). Surgeons and anesthesiologists will be careful and determine general plan and what prevention medication they must use.
You could ask your GP to order some informative tests to see  if there is a problem and which kind if. This would be very useful information for when you decide for potential surgery and your surgeon and his team.

Have been reading about the affects of stopping Aspirin and must say its extremely scary ,something like 1/3 have strokes, heart attacks or die within a month.... I don't think I ever really needed it, I needed something for blood pressure, not this, and it was my suggestion. Im afraid of what I've done to myself. That I may never be able to stop and will be stuck with the risk of bleeding, I've made a mistake...😧

Low dose aspirin is one of the over prescribed treatments because it's so easy. The doctor doesn't even need to write a prescription for it. Low dose was only supposed to be used on a small number of people with a limited number of medical conditions. Many are taking it who don't need it putting them at a greater risk of bleeding. You need to talk this over with your doctor and learn why you are on low dose and if it's safe for you to quit it. Your doctor should also be informed of your issue with bleeding. Was told to stop aspirin by my gp,there seems to be general shock that I'm on it and also that its every day. She said that hrt related ailments would not be negated by aspirin,stitches still in
