Hi all, I'm currently getting electrolysis done on my upper lip and chin. I did 8 laser removal sessions 2 years ago and 8 electrolysis sessions with another electrologist a year ago.

When my current electrologist treats my chin and upper lip hairs, I feel a pulling/tugging feeling with some of the hairs, is this normal to feel this pulling sensation? Or should I not feel anything when the hair is being taken out? My electrologist told me the pulling sensation is because the hair is dry and haven't been treated recently. Can someone let me know whether you felt any pulling when you did electrolysis on your face? Thanks!

Yes.  Sometimes they just slide out, and sometimes you can feel a tug.  Depends on the size of the hair root.

Yes, there is a bit of a tug with some. Compare that sensation with pulling out an unzapped hair which is usually very painful, especially on the lip. As long as it's nothing like that you're fine.

There should be no tug for proper removal. Should slide out.
She is needs to apply current a bit longer.  If there is a tug she should stop continue current and then pull.

One caveat is that current can only be applied for so long otherwise you risk damage to your skin. So if after second attempt she should go ahead and pull and then retreat 7-8 weeks later.

It depends on the hair itself. I have quite a few thick white ones and they tend to require more effort to remove after the zap - sometimes I can feel her tugging and then zapping some more and then tugging and I know that its a thick white one shes trying to get out.

Your electrologist is walking a fine line between applying enough power to enable the hair to be removed while also trying not to apply so much power as to cause skin damage or pain. Some hair needs more power, other hair needs less power.
