POF has been a waste of time. OKCupid gives me some hits now and then. There is also TransgenderDate.com.

I personally got tons of sexually based messages when I was on Pof or Okcupid... It was starting to make me feel like I wasn't going to find the right man for me. I personally decided to close my accounts and commit to some activities like cooking courses/ coed basket ball or local lgbtq events instead. I'm still waiting for results, but I feel there's a bigger likelyhood of finding someone compatible if you meet them doing activities you enjoy.

OKCupid, Grindr (Trans), transgenderdate .com and Craigslist (t4m) work well for me.
Real dates with decent guys.

Well imo there are ->-bleeped-<-s who are annoying...
and there are admirers who are respectful and want a partnership...

maybe saying you are looking for a long term partnership helps... (if that is the case)

Well have you looked at a few profiles of people of your gender you might like ? Imo a profile is important... you might incorporate a few passages you like... of course not copied word for word, but given in your expressions...
and you might include a few things that describe you... not only expressions many others use...
like what makes you laugh... what you like to spend your time on, in a descriptive way ...

also it might be necessary to go through a lot of candidates... sticking to those you have a really good feeling with ...
its possible to skype, or voice chat with a few candidates... so its not only written communication...
just observe basic safety rules, its possible to make an account on skype only for date chatting...
