First of all, hii I'm Syd, I'm FTM [emoji4] I've just received my letter from my therapist and as super excited as I am I'm also having a seriously hard time finding out where to go/what to do next. I don't know anyone who's transitioned or is in the process so I'm kind of lost. I know RVA is probably the best place to go but I live in NN, I work full time and don't have reliable transport. Is there any one who might be able to point me in some kind of direction lmao I've called a few places with no success, my PCP said she couldn't help me get Testosterone so I might be in the market for someone more open minded as well. Any and all info would be great [emoji5]

Would you mind saying exactly where you live? I am in Alexandria and I have gotten all of my trans-related healthcare taken care of at Whitman Walker Health in DC. I also know of the Fan Free Clinic in Richmond. While I'm sure there are independent endos around who would be able to help you, those are two surefire places to go.

If you are interested in Whitman Walker, they do require quarterly visits for your first year on HRT. Twice a year for your second year, and then annually after that. Each "visit" is actually 2 visits - one for blood work about a week in advance, and then a follow up with the practitioner a week later to review your results, overall health, and pick up a new prescription.

I'm in Newport News. I contacted the Fan Free Clinic in Richmond but unfortunately was told they don't service residents in my area. I was referred to Dr. Peters of Tidewater Women's & LGBT Primary Care Center. So I managed to get an appointment with him two weeks from now. Aside from him I managed to find one endo locally who'd be willing to take me on as a patient but I don't feel he has too much experience in Hormone therapy so I was a bit reluctant. Thank you for your recommendation though!

If he needs help figuring out appropriate dosing or what tests he should be running, have him contact those two places. I'm sure they'd be able to assist.

If you have insurance, the lab can bill your insurance directly for lab costs.  Follow up office visits are $40 and any lab visits are $25 (plus lab costs. Again, insurance will usually cover lab costs).  very good people hope it works out

That definitely sounds reasonable. Did you begin your HRT/get a prescription that same day?

I live in VA and know of a couple places that might help, but:

1) Insurance is always tricky
2) They might specialize in youth specifically

He uses informed consent at their practice no you have to get the blood test first then go over the results for your base line then get your meds

Hmm that's weird. When I asked the woman who scheduled my  appointment what to exist that day she said he'd go over some info, do some lab work, if I were doing injections that he'd teach me and he'd give me a prescription... I'll have to call them again then.
