LGBT equality 'will be at stake' in Clinton-Trump Presidential race

http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2016/03/02/lgbt-equality-will-be-at-stake-in-clinton-trump-presidential-race/

Pink News/By Nick Duffy   03/02/2016

"After Super Tuesday cemented the leads of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as their party's Presidential candidates, the stakes are high for LGBT rights.

As the results come in from the largest day of voting in the US Presidential primaries, pro-LGBT Democrat Hillary Clinton is currently well ahead of Bernie Sanders, while Donald Trump has blasted away most of the Republican field. "

These PinkNews stories are a frustrating read due to the (lack of) editing.  :icon_no:

I'm working on it, I'm going to apply for a copy position with Pink.

I don't think we have to worry about loosing any laws we already have too much (ex. gay marriage).  The judicial system wouldn't allow it.  It wouldn't be the first time an attempt to revoke rights from a certain group of people occurred (ex. Ruling over racial rights and the requests to have them taken away).  I have my hopes there in the scenario that there is a real threat to lgbt rights that comes with the election.  History tends to repeat itself after all.  It would till be nice to have a pro-lgbt president and avoid conflict altogether of course :)

The article referenced the so called "religious freedom"...to discriminate laws that have been popping up with special bathroom emphasis added for us.  The SCOTUS set this table when they ruled in favor of the Hobby Lobby folks in 2014 and allowed religious bigotry to trump our civil rights.

Equality has never been assumed or freely bestowed by the ruling majorities but is fought for and demanded.  We are simply reminded we have more to work and fight for than ever before.

Risky, but this might work out really well. If they end up making in an election issue they will take extreme opposing views, and Trump will lose. And if he wins there's probably bigger things to worry about.
