"Hearing a trans person calling Presidential candidate Ted Cruz "very nice" is like hearing a seal wax ecstatic about her new shark buddy. But the former scenario has happened, at least once."

I know Ted Cruz better than most as he's my senator.  I grow less fond of him as time goes on, but still hope and believe he will be my senator this time next year.

I was at first skeptical when she came out , then I was happy for her and thought this would help us, then this craziness about a philosophy that has no room for the LGBT and now my hopes are dwindling .

It's unfortunate that she's as naive as she is. If she were smart, she'd stay out of politics. If she thought about it, she might recognize that "the enemy of my friends probably isn't my friend, either."

She can't have her politics both ways.

She doesn't want a candidate like Bernie or Hillary because they don't have the interests of the rich white upper class on their priorities...

A reminder you may discuss Jenner's or Cruz's position on trans issues, but you may not say anything about Jenner's intelligence or mental state, or anything that can be perceived as being intentionally negative towards Jenner as a person. If you do it will be edited, or deleted. That same policy goes for everyone.

Love is not obedience, conformity, or submission. It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely given by a healthy, unafraid human being....  - Dan Barker

There's no accounting for taste... but really, is this a surprise?  I mean, she's a republican.  She's going to have a favorite republican candidate.  They've all gone on record as being anti-LGBT.  Sounds like she wants to get buddy buddy with a candidate, so that she can advance a trans-friendly agenda despite all signs pointing to the futility of that goal.

"Hearing a trans person calling Presidential candidate Ted Cruz "very nice" is like hearing a seal wax ecstatic about her new shark buddy. But the former scenario has happened, at least once.

Cruz, you see, is virulently anti-trans. He described the Obama administration's support of trans students as "lunacy" and mischaracterized it as "trying to force [school districts] to let boys shower with little girls." He has said that it's better to "inflict" trans students on teachers by allowing them to use faculty bathrooms, as opposed to those shared with their peers. He seems... Hmmm, what's the phrase? "Hazardous to the notion of equality"? "Hellbent on putting the LGBT community in its place after getting freaked out by the SCOTUS's passing of marriage equality"? At the very least, he seems not very nice.

According to Caitlyn Jenner, though, Ted Cruz is very nice. And we just got word from the seal that her great white friend "just invited me over—into his mouth! I'm stoked!""

People in Jenner's socio-economic bracket are so far removed from the reality of the general population, that I don't think it's possible for them to truly help anyone regardless of agenda. They just can't conceive of what it's like to face reality and pay bills like it is for the everyday Joe or Jane.
Female since birth, female til death & an unquestionably inflexible heterosexual CIS female in between who happens to be married to a non-binary male who identifies as male.

This is not insane.  But I also have to agree with you about taste.  Without getting too personal about Cruz, a cold view of his odds of becoming President suggest he's not likely to get the job.  If I were a betting woman, I'd expect him back in the Senate next year where he is virtually friendless and not particularly influential after many battles with the "establishment."  Again, I'd rather not get into who was right in his battles with GOP leadership for several reasons, but my point is that even if you have Ted Cruz' ear, I'm not sure it's really worth much.  In the end, I have several suggestions if she wanted to make more of an impact on the GOP's policy.

Trump is getting the nomination,  so Ted is irrelevant.

There is a huge difference between meeting Ted as an Olympic champion versus a trans female. Or maybe it's all about the money.  Who knows?

Her comments about capitalism and stuff are just old school republican.  I feel similar in that I like capitalism, small government and the like.  However, today's republican party is focused too far right especially on religion which makes no sense to me since separation of church and state should make religion null and void.

That said it is odd she goes for one of the furthest right and the most hateful of the republicans.  I hope with time that she begins to see the light and that the current republican party is not the one she grew up with.

I think we have a winner here. I agree.
