Hello,
I hope this is informative to others that have a defibrillator or pacemaker implant as it is hard to find any experiences in regards to SRS if you do have one. I have one device that does both. A 2 in 1 ICD. Now to the topic at hand:

Soooo I was all excited to see my cardiologist to ask him if breast augmentation and SRS would be fine. Having an  ICD, there are obvious complications that could arise especially for BA because of where the ICD and its leads are located.

BA: Denial on BA :( Which is good and bad because what I really want is SRS and BA would just be icing on the cake :) The denial on the BA is because the possibility of infection would mean that all of the hard ware,  ICD and it's leads(wires going around my heart) would have to be yanked out and a whole new setup installed. Yikesssssssss!!!!!! So risks outweigh the benefits and I am fairly early in HRT so my breasts could still grow to a decent size :) I'm ok with that.

SRS: Although my cardiologist approved it and said that I have the same cardiac risk as anyone else, the surgeon who I had planned to see denied me upon review of my medical history records. He, Chettawut, believes that I should have the surgery somewhere closer to home and nearer to my cardiologist. I live in the US. I greatly respect his professional opinion and concern for my well being and agreed with his decision 100%. I truly appreciate that he would give me an honest answer and not just think about the money and trying to make it work if it was out of his comfort zone. I applaud him for that although it is very upsetting. To me, this adds to his greatness as a surgeon. So I guess I'll have to save up $20k + for a surgery here in the good ole US of A :( I also contacted Supporn, but they never got back to me.

Big hug! Try to think of it as delayed, not denied. Thanks for posting this for others, too.  :)

Thanks Devlyn! That is a good way to look at it :) I wanted to hurry up and get SRS/GCS/GRS by the end of this year and was totally devastated when I was turned down. Now I am fine with the realization that I will have to wait 2yrs, at least, before I can move forward with it.

And yeah, you're welcome! It's rare, or so it seems, for someone with a defibrillator/pacemaker to want/need SRS. I just hope it sheds some light on the topic. Of course my outcome may not be the same for everyone, but I have not found any other experiences on the matter.

I have a pacemaker and there were no issues with me getting FFS and breast augmentation.  I also had no issues raised when I consulted my SRS surgeon. Sorry you've had such a negative experience. Good luck girl I hope you can get this figured out. ❤️❤️

Hey Jessie!!
That is great to hear  ;D I could get both surgeries, but I believe both doctors are just being extra cautious which is ok :) Just depends on the doctors that you have. I do have a really tricky cardiac condition and I am sure that is where the concern is. I have yet to speak to a surgeon here in the states, but I'm sure there wont be an issue as far as SRS goes. And for BA, well that was only one cardiologists opinion. I'm sure another, as in your case, would give the go ahead. But it's not a priority now.

Iliana, while I have no real regrets, I do think I could have done without the implants. They almost always encapsulate. Over thirty years, I'm surprised that mine are as soft as they are but they have hardened some. And I hate that! I'd have them removed but I don't want any scars. I have none as it is since I had them done when I was young and they went in through the armpit.

In the grand scheme, I'd rather stay in the US. When I had my surgery, there really was no other choice. And it was relatively more expensive than $20k in today's dollars. Think of it as a new car you won't buy. ;)

In any case, I'm glad you see all of this as good news. I love a positive attitude.

If I can get 30 years out of mine I will be one happy lady.  That would put me at 85 and probably too old to care.
