Hello,

I've started contacting US surgeons, Meltzer, Bowers, McGinn, etc, through either their Web portal, or listed email contact info. I will prob also contact Brussard.

So far, I received reply only from Meltzer (10 days past initial queries sent) - which was interesting, since their auto-reply said it might take a few WEEKS to reply!!, and yet they are the only one who have replied back.  Haven't heard from anyone else - using Gmail, so its not a spam issue. Emails sent for FFS, Voice, resulted in quick replies.

Are most of the well known US surgeons so backed up, busy that this is typical? Meltzer's office replied that scheduling was at least 9-12 months. Yikes...is that typical for the rest as well? Next week I will try contacting through phone.

Do most have a waiting list for those who can be flexible?   Darn, I might re-consider Thailand if the wait is 1 year or so.

I don't mean to sound spoiled or entitled. I transitioned 16 years ago, but developed MS - which was severe (remitting, relapsing) for a long time, and this not only affected health, but also finances. Im doing much better now, taking Copaxone. Im about to turn 57, and wish I could have done this a DECADE ago, but circumstances prevented.
In my case, I never know about my health, and I have an open window now, that I am hoping I can take advantage, while I still can.

Brassard is said to have 5 months waiting from booking.
You might call there.

There are a few other surgeons who have short waiting lists.

There is a dr Sinclair in LA.
You might look up threads on him.
Waiting list seems to be weeks.

As said there are others.
There are websites with lists of surgeons, you might look there.

Brassard typically has a waiting list of under six months, if that helps; I was offered a date within 3 months (!), but that was a couple years ago now.

I know from different source that Meltzer and Bowers both have extensive waiting lists. Sometimes if you are flexible, you can slip into a cancelation but that isn't a sure thing as others attempt to do the same thing.

Back at the end of 2014 I do know that Mcginn's office had me do an intake before answering any questions.  I then had a long phone call a week or two later and then a consult 5 months later mar 2015.  I'm guessing her procedure is still the same (so send the form, its on her site and there's no financial commitment until you go to the office in-person).  Dunno about the other surgeons tho because I didn't shop around.  Different offices obviously have different procedure.

FYI I then had surgery sept 2015 but I could've had it earlier after the march consult.  Decided to wait to deal with genital hair removal.

Thanks everyone for replying!

I did hear back from Bowers & Meltzer.

12 months for Meltzer, 20 (!) for Bowers!!!
Haven't heard back from McGinn. I assume she will have long wait too.

I will look into Brussard. I live in Southern CA, and actually met Dr. Sinclair at one of the clubs/meeting places. I didn't get a very good impression. Dr. Alter doesn't have a long wait list, but is very expensive.

I guess I have to do more research, and read here on the board about Brussard.

Darn...obviously no one wants to wait. I really wanted to see someone here in North America.

SRS by Dr. Sinclair worked out well for me.  Good price considering Los Angeles area cost of living.  Decent results and no numb spots.
Best part was no waiting.

Thanks Anne,

I don't have enough posts to send PM, but maybe we can chat sometime about Sinclair, if that's agreeable.

I was incorrect about Dr. Bowers, its 2-1/2 years in the future! OMG, ...business is booming.

I am looking into this myself at the moment.  For me Bowers is completely off my list, even though I live in the area, because of the waiting times.  With Meltzer I am waiting to hear back, but from others I hear the combined wait for the consultation and surgery is well over 1 year.  I did hear back from Satterwhite today and the consultation is booking in August of 2016 now, and the surgery dates are 6-9 months from that.  Brassard is also 6-9 months for surgery, but I have been told a consultation can be booked quickly, but I don't have a specific estimate on that yet.  The current costs with Brassard was quoted to me as $20,000.00 Canadian dollars, which is very reasonable.

Jessical,

Looks like Meltzer is at least  one year to year/half. McGinn is 6-9 months from consult. Earliest consult, as of last week, last week or so in Dec, 2015.

Business is very good for most of the North America surgeons!
