Hello, this is my first post so here goes -
I took hormones (oestrodeol) and a blood test showed high Potassium. So another blood test a week later and having not taken any more, levels went back to normal. I had to tell my gp that yes, I had taken them without consultation with an endo. They were cool, have been very helpful in refering me and now I think I know what it feels like to have high potassium. . . life threatening and scary!

So while I wait for the official process to happen, consultation etc, can anyone who is further down the transition road tell me if they had bad reaction ie: high Potassium from the hormones, because I thought that only blockers can raise potassium.

My potassium is normal on a fairly high dosage of spiro because I track my diet and ensure I eat about half the RDA of potassium all the time.

If your potassium is high then you should probably do the same.

This doesn't precisely answer your question but the solution is simple whatever the cause.

Thanks, I did indeed find I was eating a lot of veg, broccoli for eg, high in potassium, and seeds.

If I keep my potassium at around 1750mg per day my blood test is normal.  With my diet that's really easy and the only thing I really avoid that I like is bananas.

Welcome to Susan's Place. My roommate had leg cramps that were controlled buy upping the Potassium in her diet. The three big items in the American diet were Bananas, Orange Juice and Potatoes. If any of those are in your diet, you need to watch closely how much of them you consume.
On the other side, her son had kidney failure and Potassium could be deadly to him so when he was around we had to be very careful about the food we put on the table. For him, potatoes where the biggest issue.
