Two months ago, I mention that Ill probably buy alcohol for a friend. This friend drives me to work at times (we live in the same building so no problem right). Okay so I decided to buy a bottle of rum out of no where last week. And I gave it to him today.

Then a wave of ackwardness went through my system like that was kind of gay to buy for a guy (although it never occur to me during the purchase).

He gave me a wallet once too. This is strictly a platonic friend.  Doesnt know anything about my issues or what not.

I will do little favors for people from time to time and they will do the same for me. I bought a special battery to repair a lamp for the guy who works for us and after hours he rode over to my house and we unload a china cabinet I just bought. You don't need to wait for christmas or a birthday to exchange gifts.

nothing weird about gift giving. Unless maybe you bought him a car.

Lol. No he has done a lot for me... It does take a bit effort for me to buy a gift. I am not going to lie.  Driven me to work and home like 3-5 times a week, and assist me whenever I ask. (a half of a mile though)

Seems very appropriate to me.  He takes you to work sometimes.  Nothing wrong with a small gift to show appreciation and friendship.  Don't overthink it!

Agreed.  Another thing you can do is if he ever stops to buy gas/petrol while you're in the car, pay to fill it up.  BTW - nothing wrong with rum.

I'm a gifter. Can't say I've ever tied sexuality or anything into it though. Although for me it's because I make a lot of things and don't have the room for them so I just give them away.

Nothing weird about it unless he was under age.

Hi Wild flower, some people just aren't random gift givers' and it makes them feel weird when they do but it's fine to show your appreciation like that im sure he appreciated it.

I am the queen of akward weird moments. I've found you can make almost anything weird. That being said, you can also make anything not weird too. The key is setting expectations and being confident (or not giving a darn). It's hard for me to not be awekard because I have no confidence.

Did you tell him what it was for, and that it randomly crossed your mind so you bought the bottle? Or did you act like me and just say something like "here you go" and leave him guessing what it was for?

I fail to see how it's 'gay' to buy someone anything really

Buying the gift was a sign of your appreciation. Being awkward is because you do not do it often.

I purchased my operations manager some bottles of regular and chipotle Cholula sauce  for his morning eggs just because I knew he would enjoy the gift.

If by gay you mean happy or merry then yup, it's gay. :) Trying being in a position of authority and 2 out of 6 of your employees know. Talking about awkward when they use male pronouns or my male name and I give em the look. Hehe.

It's just rum. Shouldn't be weird. People buy alcohol for other people all the time.

WildFlower, I was on here sometime ago, as Auroramarianna, and I have read most of ypur posts.

It seems like nothing has changed. You keep obsessing over these really small things. You keep talking about transitioning, and living as a woman, but you can't get yourself round to do it. You seriously need to consider what's the right for you, but keep obsessing over it will only harm you. You are cleary frustrated. Seek help. A site like this isn't a substititue for living real life.

Best of luck,
