I'll first say that my school is in a small town and not prepared for students like me.. which I understand.. However, I feel like i'm being ignored in a sense..
Heres a clear example of what I mean... I was in gym and I asked my gym teacher can I go to the bathroom in the nurses office (when I use to be able to - before today) and she then replied "well the boys bathroom is over there" and then smirked... are you kidding me..
that was last week.. so let me cut to the chase and the real reason why i'm here. well today was a day i had to go to the bathroom.. so i asked my geometry teacher could I go so i proceeded to do so... I got into the nurses office and I politely asked could I use the bathroom.. she looked at me and said cant you read signs?" she then points to a sign that said "NO STUDENTS ALLOWED TO USE NURSES BATHROOM" I looked at her like she was the dumbest person on this planet.. I walked out...
i went to the office and i told one of the ladies and to make it short she told me i had to use the males bathroom.. and she said "well i dont kno what to tell you"
so... heres my question., How should I go about this? what should i do? should i sue? should i go to the board? or should i leave it alone..

ps.. yes im in highschool .. no im not a minor ill be 19 this year.
pss.. i'm visibly trans. not to toot my own horn but i barley look like a male.. so "what if she didnt know" isnt going to fly.

It sounds like somebody didn't get the memo from before. If you have a doctor or the school principle who was involved in the initial decision to allow you to use the nurses bathroom, you need to go to them and explain the problem. Dragging lawyers into the mess is always the last thing you want to do when a simpler solution to the problem exist. Your parents should also be made aware that things have changed because somebody didn't keep their word.

Agreed I wold try speaking with the principal he or she should do something about it and if that dont work your schools superintendent remember everyone has a boss to a point so there's always someone else to talk to and the higher profile publicly they are the bigger ->-bleeped-<-storm (pardon my french) will be raised if there unwilling to help you get this sorted. I couldn't imagine of coming out back when I went granted I graduated in 2000 but at that time I had never heard of transgender altho I had heard of transitioning m2f or f2m I knew of nobody who did it especially in my town/schools.

I tell you that your lucky not to be in a Andalusian Spanish school because that's the worst place possible to go!

F.Y.I. I know this from personal experience.

Did you initially speak to any of the administrators about using the nurses's bathroom, or was this something you decided to do on your own? If you didn't ask for permission first, it sounds like the nurse complained and told other people about it. If you did ask permission, it sounds like you need to go talk to whoever initially gave their approval and let them know what is going on.

If you are in the U.S., you have a right to be treated as your identified gender. Please speak up for yourself, either to a counselor, and if that doesn't work, to an administrator. It would help if you had a parent or some other non-student ally on your side. But you are in the right. Your school administrators may be ignorant about their responsibility to accommodate you, and you may have to be the one who educates them.

If necessary, seek help from an LGBT support organization. Is there a PFLAG chapter near you? If not, consider contacting Lambda Legal or one of the other national organizations.

Please don't let this go. They are required to treat you reasonably.

You're not a child any more, you're a grown woman... and a grown woman can pee where she pleases. A grown woman doesn't need anyone's permission to use the appropriate toilet. This isn't Kindergarten! ;)

You shouldn't be using the nurse's toilet: you're not a nurse. The only facilities you should be using are the ladies' facilities. So familiarise yourself with your rights, tell the Principal that you know your rights and are going to use the female facilities from now on. And if anyone tries to stop you, explain your rights and if needs be, tell them you're fully prepared to sue them if they don't back off.

Remember, as Eleanor Roosevelt said: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent". Don't give them that consent.
