Equality Groups Filing Suit Against North Carolina's Anti-LGBT Law

http://www.advocate.com/politics/2016/3/27/equality-groups-filing-suit-against-north-carolinas-anti-lgbt-law

The Advocate/By Neal Broverman March 27 2016 8:59 PM EDT

"Less than a week after North Carolina officials rescinded LGBT-specific nondiscrimination protections following a smear campaign against transgender people, three organizations are filing a federal lawsuit against the much-maligned HB 2.

The American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU of North Carolina, Lambda Legal, and Equality NC plan to announce the lawsuit on Monday at noon Eastern. The organizations are filing the case in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina "on behalf of several organizations and individuals who will be harmed by the law," the groups said in a joint statement on Sunday."

The ACLU Sues to Stop North Carolina's Anti-LGBTQ Law

Quote...if this gambit pays off, then North Carolina's effort to disfavor and dehumanize trans people will boomerang in a pretty stunning way. In passing HB2, the state meant to single out trans people and deprive them of their dignity. The ultimate result of this effort might just be an affirmation of trans equality by the federal judiciary.

I heard about this story and had the exact same thought.  It's going to end up at the Supreme Court, but it better wait until such a time that there are 9 members on the bench and the 9th pointed by someone who understands what's at stake.
