Sleeping follicles. No regrowth.

Rev Endocr Metab Disord. 2015 Sep;16(3):177-98.

"Finasteride has been shown to lead to a significant reduction in the progression of the baldness and to a stimulation of new hair growth."
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004
Post-op since late 2005

That is a very bad idea. Topical is best to avoid trigger hair growth in other unwanted areas. Exactly what you don't want! I'm surprised this was prescribed to you.

I wasn't sure so talked with my hormone prescribing doctor as well, and she was happy with the oral dose. i will think about it a bit more.

I take CPA since 3 years (+2.5 years finasteride) and its a lot more effective than finasteride alone. And dead follicles are dead. You only can "wake up" sleeping ones. If youve many years of baldness you cant get back the dead folicles.

From the FWIW column, I was in similar situation. Late 30's when I started therapy. Quite a bit of thinning. Took a couple years, but experienced very good re-growth. I have fine blond hair, also FWIW. Since the texture, and color certainly affect the overall result.

Now in my 50's, and pretty satisfied. I need highlights to sustain texture/thickness, but overall pretty happy.

Best of luck to you.
Physics is like sex: sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it.
