So I mentioned yesterday that my therapist says I can go ahead and get the process started - it takes about a month from when you first see the doctor for blood tests, etc.  My question is, how did you present when you went to the doctor for this?  I'm not out to anyone yet, is why I am asking.

Wear what you are most comfortable in, they are not going to withhold HRT based on what you are wearing.
I was out for quite awhile before I started HRT, I wore a pair of bootcut jeans and a peasant top to my appointment.

When I first started, I wasn't out or even presenting most of the time.  My first appointment was right after work so I had on jeans and a t-shirt.  As I remember it, I even had several days beard growth at the time (it was a rough time for me and I wasn't big into caring what I looked like........ at all).

It was a total non-issue and I ended up walking out that day with orders for blood work and prescriptions in hand.  They also called me by my preferred name, even though it was a little incongruous at the time.

As Stevie said:  Just wear what you are comfortable with.  :)

I wasn't out when I started HRT. For my first appointment I most likely wore jeans and a shirt.

My first appointment I was full on girl mode.... when I went for follow up and scripts... I was pretty much in male mode... alot has happened in 6 weeks and I wasnt really interested in how I presented myself... it was a non issue on both

I've done 2 onsite appointments, blood tested same day.  Dressed for both, but not out yet.  First time I made a day of it, found a nice bar in Chicago that opened shortly after I got my meds, had 2 celebratory drinks and a glass of champagne.  Really fun day.

Thank you all!  I worked up the courage to wear make-up to my therapist but still in jeans and t-shirt.  (Pics in the do I pass thread).  So it's a relief to know I don't have to go all in for this.  It's scary enough as it is!

Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. Starting HRT, I was a bundle of nerves and in no mood to try presenting then, but you might feel comfortable less comfortable in drab than girl mode. It's up to you, but I hope it goes well.

Edit: Congrats! I'm glad the appointment went well, and helped you build some confidence as well.

     Hugs,
- Katie
