I really want to go blonde someday

Hi, someday my hair is going to be a lot longer and that is the point where I'll desire to go full blonde. But, I have dark brown hair instead. Is it possible for a normal, average person to go from dark to full blonde?

Also, I haven't started dressing in women's clothes yet (still live with parents) and/or hormones, but I don't know how the heck hair coloring or makeup works.

Hey Red,
I was looking at this recently as I also have dark brown hair.
I found this on wiki how.
I haven't tried it yet, I was going to have mine done at a salon.
I hope you find it helpful.
Hugs,
Sarah

Well, I'm no expert on this, but as I understand it there's a big difference between going a little lighter and going from dark brown to full out blonde. The DIY tute at the link above might be fine for a bit of lightening, but going fully to blonde is more involved. There's a two step process where the natural color is first removed (leaving it white), then it is colored in the blonde shade. For that I'd really suggest a professional colorist. That initial process is pretty involved, but after that you'll just need regular root touch-ups at intervals of 2 weeks to a month, I think. I haven't done it myself, though, so I welcome correction on any detail from the more experienced here.

If you wait long you become BlonT naturally :) Oops the call that grey
Its a good advice not to go light in one step.

Just go to a salon when you're ready, and they will advise you on what they can realistically do without harming your hair.  I started getting highlights about 10 years ago, and I was very happy with it, but 3 years ago, I had a desire to go dark, so I did it, and I liked it for a few months, and then wanted my blonde back, which is easier said than done, because apparently it is harder to lift hair dye than it is to lift natural color, and it took 2 years to get back to a blonde that I am happy with, but it's still not as good as it was before, so next time I get the urge to go dark, I think I will just buy a wig.

Going darker is easy, but going lighter can be tricky. I gave up dying my hair brown as the hair dresser said that she first needs to bleach my hear, which will certainly damage my hair. But a few of my female friends said to me that it is possible without bleaching by using some DIY products in the store.

barbie~~
Just do it.

Thanks. It's not the end of the world, by the way, my life doesn't depend on going blonde. I can keep my natural color even.

It can be done, the question is at what cost both in many and to your hair. it's part of why you won't see me ever go blonde, but having said that it has crossed my mind what it would be like to be blonde. Yet I know, I make a far better red head than I would ever a blonde. As others have said, go to a salon and they can advise you. Hugs
