I've been struggling with an eating disorder for over a decade. I also have bipolar disorder, and that obvs doesn't help. Very recently, I seem to have relapsed kind of spectacularly, but I won't put details of that in a public forum post. If you have questions, please feel free to msg me directly.

My brain is fuzzy and I'm feeling like this isn't coming off as v polished, but I want to put a question to the community.

In your personal experience, do you find that there are a lot of trans people who have these sorts of problems vis a vis eating disorders, restrictive and otherwise? If you, or someone you know, who is trans and has an ED, are on hormones, do you find that that had a significant impact on ED symptoms?

I have seen a number of people on the site who over ate in order to deal with the depression caused by being transgender. Once they start treatment, you see them start a sensible diet and they start taking more interest in their personal appearance. The population on the site is large enough that other eating disorders are present but I am not sure if they are out of balance compared to the rest of the population.

I'd say try to relax.

Spring is coming up and its possible the mood is getting better.

There is a biological explanation for being transgender.

So its nobodys fault, and there is no reason for self love issues or similar.
Imo those issues might be more present in some tg people.
HRT can help coming more to a feeling of being oneself, which should be helpful.

You might look for a good gender therapist to help you along.

I'd say try some self acceptance...
love yourself...
and keep going.

Many people have done this and succeeded, step by step.

many *hugs*
