It's been a while since my chest surgery and my binders are taking up lots of room.  I was going to give them to point5cc's free binder program, but then I read that they require applicants to purchase something in order to get a free binder.  I understand he's running a business, but I'd rather give my binders to a legit nonprofit program that will provide them gratis to people in need, not just to customers who want to buy logo merchandise.

I notice point5cc also accepts and gives out stuff for trans women, which is cool.  I gave my old AFAB undergarments to http://www.brarecycling.com a while back, since before surgery I was just using binders and AFAIK Goodwill won't take undergarments.

If you have gotten a free binder from somewhere, who did you get it from?

If you gave your binders away to a good cause, what was it?

I have heard that some of the therapy programs give out binders to people who can't afford them. You might ask the local LGBT center about programs like that available in your community.

One post I saw from a SO woman who had a FTM child was overjoyed that her child received a binder because she was a single mother and couldn't afford a binder for her child. The center ask her why her child wasn't wearing a binder and when she said she couldn't afford it, they just handed one over.

You could always give them to your local support group leader. That leader should be able to get them locally to those who most need them.

I just gave mine away on Tumblr. Made a post, listed the ones that I had (brand, size, color, level of wear) and said that I would be sending them at no cost to transmen who could otherwise not afford them. I used as many tags as I could think of that people might look at, and I also posted to a few trans-related submission blogs.

I had 3 to give away and got over 100 messages about them. I looked at everyone's blogs, chatted back and forth with a few people, and found 3 folks that seemed like they could really benefit from them. I mailed two off and the other guy was actually local, so I met up and gave him his in person.

I was still recovering when I did all that, so I had some free time to kill. If you don't, I second taking them to someone local. I know the center I get my hormones from will accept donations.

Yeah, I am not going to be able to vet applicants personally, just want to send the binders somewhere and be done with it.

As far as I know there are no local programs that will take this on, either, so for now that place in Portland mentioned above may be the best bet.  I think Matt Kailey's site used to have a whole section on binder donations too but it might be out of date.
