I am heavily considering going to PAI for SRS January 2016. They advise 15 days of recovery post SRS. How does everyone, both pre and post op, feels about this?

Does anyone thinks there would be benefits in waiting 30 days before getting back home? I will be flying from Brazil and it will be a 24 hour long flight with scales in at least 2 airports.

I could travel after a week, but it was uncomfortable. Sitting up wasn't comfortable for several weeks.

This is a personal decision based on how well you handle pain and how fast you want to get home. I was close to two weeks in the hospital before they let me go and I had about a 3 hour bus ride, taxi ride and wait in the airport before about a 3 hour flight. My bottom hurt pretty much all the time but it gave me something to do finding a way to position the donut so it didn't hurt as much. I suspect even at 30 days you are going to be somewhat uncomfortable sitting for long periods of time. The up side is if you can stand on your feet for a while, that doesn't hurt so layovers can be good.

I think I'd buy a flexible ticket, go for 30 days, and come back early if I felt up to it.

I think the 30 days (24 min) comes from Suporn, as its actually required due to his technique having a much harder recovery. He also has quite a high rate of revisions in those first 30 days.

Suporn needs 12 month for real recovery.
After 6 month you can return to work, another 6 month to get painfree.

Everyone's recovery is different and it'll depend on your healing rate, pain tolerance, etc.  AnonyMs's suggestion of getting a flexible ticket for 30 days sounds like a reasonable option.

Since you are in Brasil, may I ask if you had considered Dr. Littleton in Rio and if so, why are you leaning towards PAI instead?

Star fire because I have spoken with two women who have had problems with symmetry and their vagina canal after the op. One of them even developed a fístula and had one hell of a time.  As far as I know there arent good options for srs in Brasil.

Something to consider is purchasing an orthopedic seat cushion to assist with bottom discomfort. There are several types where the lower cost ones may not provide the comfort you need while the higher quality versions may be too thick so something in the middle might be a consideration. If this is some you might consider then think about shipping the seat cushion via mail to your hotel to reduce luggage as the non-inflatable ones take up a lot of room. When I flow home two weeks after surgery there was little discomfort but that was only a three hour flight.
