I am 40+ years old, married, and I don't know what to do.  More than anything, I want to dress like a woman full time.

I have been cross dressing for many years, but recently I have been doing it almost a daily basis and gotten more bold about being out in public.  My wife doesn't approve, and when I tried to come clean it went badly.    Now, it is a secret and I don't know what to do.

Is it worth losing my family?

Any suggestions for support in the Seattle area?

Welcome to Susan's Place. That is one we can't solve for you. I would suggest you talk with a gender therapist who can help you decide what the best path for you is. In addition, should you need it, we have a SO section that your wife could visit and discuss this with understanding transgender people and other SOs. We try to keep families together when ever possible but depending on what you need, the best odds we can give you is 50/50 your family will remain together.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

I second the gender therapist visit. Therapists are sometimes a necessity but also a great tool for us. They can help us see things more clearly more quickly.

Good luck and I hope your journey smooths out.

Warmly,
