did HRT reduce or thin your face and body hair?

I've been plucking my upper lip first, then all around my mouth for a year, and since starting HRT five months ago, or is it six now, I saw the hair go thinner and slow its growth, very slightly at first, and more and more... and all my body hair pattern is not anymore what is used to be, my legs, my arms. I was never very hairy but now it has switch to a female-like hair pattern. I still have beard, but almost no regrowth after 24 hours (it was like that some 25 years ago)

I was wondering if I'm a mutant or if someone else had seen clear effect on body and face hair with HRT

I've noticed absolutely nothing in regards to facial hair, only that it takes a tiny amount longer before shadow shows. Still have to deal with it daily.

However there is that peace of mind knowing no more new facial hair will grow while on HRT (I never finished obtaining enough for a full beard, directly on the chin and upper lip is dense, everywhere else seems kinda patchy and sparse)

As for body hair, this takes a long time to happen but I have noticed some of it has thinned a little. Chest hair is less than it was (not that I had much to begin with), and legs are much easier to epilate at the moment.

It sounds like you are quite lucky! Although do remember plucking does cause damage to the hair follicle, enough to stunt growth a little, though this is temporary and not plucking for a few months (or less depending on where) will probably see you back to normal.

HRT does not stop Hair growth on the face. It does slow it thou. The only TRUE way to remove Hair permanently is by Electrolysis.

Ah ok thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression a lack of T would stop your hair from developing, ie hairs in new places on your face that hadn't grown before. However I know it doesn't do anything for existing hair.

Facial hair takes a long time to remove. If your facial hair is dark then laser if light color then electrolysis.  It takes a few years and while HRT may make it grow slower it does not get rid of it.

Body hair on the other hand will become very fine and will gradually be akin to a female.. this goes for arms and legs. I just waxed them and the quantity gradually was reduced.

My facial hair grows a lot slower. My body hair as well and in addition to that it has thinned and lightened by about 50% but my estimate. I was medium hairy before and now i could easily only shave my legs once per week, if i chose.

You are right. Reducing T significantly will reduce the likelihood of new hairs growing but will only slow down facial terminal hair growth while having a much stronger impact on hairs in other areas of the body, like lower legs, chest, back, buttocks where no intervention might be needed. In some, this effect can manifest fast, within weeks to months, in others, years or as they age. Some even report a significant decrease in other areas of the body which are more resistant. Depends on the individual.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

Not facial hair (I had to have that done permanently with laser), but my body hair definitely all but disappeared except in places cis women have hair - legs, armpits, short fine arm hair, pubes.

My arms and legs only had vellus hair before I started HRT, now even that has been reduced substantially.  I only have to shave my legs every 2 months and even if I don't its not that noticeable. Face hair I had a very full beard and unfortunately it is almost entirely white so no laser. Been doing electrolysis for about a year and half, and the time I have to let my hair grow out on my face has increased by a day since starting HRT.

Face, no.  Body, yes. The easiest for me to tell is that I used to have about a dozen chest hairs in the middle of my sternum.  I haven't seen those puppies in a long time.  I've never been very hairy, so it's harder to tell with the rest.  I think my butt used to be a little hairier than it is now; same with my thighs.

Thank you for sharing everyone. That leaves me with a strange feeling. Guess I am a mutant, beard seems to be fading away. I must be XXY. Don't know where the train is heading anymore, but... yea, the ride is nice so far. Still kind of freaky, I don't know what to expect. Well thanks again.

That's good to know:) I have a really hairy body, ( so gross) and i was really worried about wearing shorts and such and always having to shave or get waxed.

I don't know if its true or not, but I seem to recall reading that you shouldn't pluck your facial hair as it can cause problems when you later need to do electrolysis.

Dropping the T also dropped my body hair, much as in your case. Once my T was down in typical female levels body hair thinned to almost nonexistent. Even legs, except for knees  ???

My facial hair growth also slowed a lot.  Shaving went from mostly needed to every day, to every other day, to once or twice a week now. It took a good year to get to this point where it leveled off at

Hello,

From my experience only thing that causes facial hair to thin is via electrolysis, perhaps laser also but only did electrolysis. In regards to body hair, never had much other than my legs. I have not shaved my legs in months but I attribute this to age as I learned from others that as many females grow older there is less and less leg hairs. Now there may be a slight possibility that hormones play a small part in this too.

A note about the upper-lip, my electrologist when ready to perform electrolysis on my upper-lip strongly suggested that I make an appointment with the dentist in the same building to have him numb my upper-lip area. She had special arrangements with him so all I needed to do was tell him I was working with Pat, my electrologist. To be truthful as it's been over 15 years one thing I do remember is that I would sometimes fall asleep while she was doing my upper-lip. The numbing allow her to go much faster than if she had to deal with me dealing with pain. Not everyone has issues with the upper-lip but I knew I would so this was great to have the lip desensitized.

thanks AnonyMs, so I read, yes, but I remember also seeing a post from someone saying the contrary, but I don't remember if it was laser or electrolysis, saying it actually helped because the roots were weaker. When I started to pluck last year, I couldn't imagine the day where I would have enough money to start one session of either laser or electrolysis, so... (still the case) it was the only way I had then to tone down my dysphoria and it helped me a lot. Now I figure if I want to zip these forvever, I'd have to stop HRT for a while I guess, but the way things are going, it keeps fading away  :-\ ??? So I'll just let things go and see where it takes me. I started this thread to check to what extent I'm an alien... trying to understand what's happening with my brain and body (you know, I need to understand)

I had very little torso hair pre-hrt and have none now. My leg hair is very fine and grows very slow. My beard growth is much slower but still there, minus laser and electrolysis removal.

Now on hormones my facial hair is very fine and soft. I even have fine baby hairs on my earlobe. The thick and black hair is completely gone. I guess your age and genetics has to do something with it
