Hello, I was called by the lab nurse today about my blood tests (i get them for hormones) and I didn't answer and I want to call them tomorrow, but the lab is closed can I call them anyway if the office is open? He said he needed to speak to me, that's not normal right? They usually don't call if everything's good. I am so nervous. What could it be?

I never managed to get them over the phone or post. Probably something to do with how they get paid more money when you visit in person.

I'm presuming they left a voice mail? If it was urgent then I expect they would have told you.

Don't read more into the call than there is. Maybe one of the tests is a little off. I have had the lab make a mistake and a reading was way off. The next test came back normal. They often want to go over the tests before giving you hormones. Just relax until you can get a hold of the office because if it was a real emergency they would have given you the doctors personal number.

Yes they did and asked me to call them back with their number.

If there was a major problem I expect they would have kept trying or given you and out of hours number. I'd say relax until you can call them on Monday.

This is the message he left me by the way, also last time I got a blood test my doctor told me everything was okay via email, but this time she didn't.

"Hi this message is for Melanie, Hi this is Jimmy a nurse from Fenway, still have to touch base about your lab results, give me a call back if you can, [and then he told me the phone number]"

I'll try to call tomorrow, on Saturdays Labs are closed but the primary medical care isn't, maybe they will be able to answer me anyway, right?

I was called by the nurse for my doctor about my test results a few months ago. Turned out that I had one test a little off and the doctor wanted me to take vitamin D3.  Nothing serious. Usually, if the clinic is open one of the nurses can look at your file and see the notes the doctor made about your test results. If they need you to do anything they will tell you. ❤️

I'm so done really they say they're open on Saturdays and they aren't, I swear I stayed awake the entire time, I'm falling asleep just writing this... Ugh now I have to wait until Monday, why did they have to call me on a Friday anyway when that was the last day of the week? UGH  ??? :eusa_wall: :icon_userfriendly: :icon_help:

Think positive.

I had to repeat my labs three times because my iron was low. I had to add wild caught salmon into my diet 3 or so times a week (5 ounces at a time) and an Iron pill each day. My doctor wanted me to get a high source protein and an iron source.

He monitors my prolactin closely because it is elevated but not too high.

We have a web portal so I can review labs on line and exchange comments. However, if there is an issue they call. The only issue was the low iron and it was to repeat labs and add iron and fish into my diet.

When I did this the only issue left was the prolactin which is not a big deal.
