Guys my hair is quite sparse and I am going through male pattern baldness. Im a MTF  transgender who kinda did things the other way round from most people. I started with facial feminization surgery first before going on the hormones because I found that it made me highly emotional and affected my capabilites at work. I work in a high stress corporate environment hence I chose to only start HRT when im in a phase where im in a favourable financial position.

Anyways, do any of you know if HRT will stop my hair loss and perhaps even make my hair grow thicker? Women generally tend to have much more hair volume than men after all. Sorry if i seem ignorant on all this. The way i've gone about doing things has left me very well versed with plastic surgery but rather clueless when it comes to HRT.

Once your testosterone levels drop your hair loss is likely to stop (but keep in mind other factors such as stress, poor diet and illness can also cause hair loss). However, depending on how much hair loss you've already had due to MPB, and how long you've had it for, it may be a long time (years), if ever, before your hair grows and long and thick due to estrogen and low testosterone.

My MPB started when I was 14'ish. My full commitment to HRT was 50'ish. In between I've had been on/off a few times with and w/o spiro. This time being all in it's been feminizing, not low dose, E as well spiro. My hair, or what's left of it, loss up top stopped, if not reverse course a bit. It needs a trim more often these days.

Could you say more about doing FFS before HRT? I've not heard of that before.

Did you do electrolysis before FFS?

If you're not going to do HRT I believe Finasteride is supposed to help.

Yeah I did. You see my previous job I was doing business development for a plastic surgery hospital in Seoul. So one of the perks is that I got dirt cheap staff prices for surgery. And it was very acceptable to have surgery being in that industry. Plus the surgeons there do many kpop celebrity faces so I am aware of their skill level. I basically had my cheekbone reduction and jaw reduction surgery and double eyelid and rhinoplasty. I'm now at the point where I look very androgynous and whenever I'm on an airplane they refer to me as "miss" or "ma'am" even when I'm wearing jeans and a blazer.

One thing I don't have though are breasts. And I am at the point in my life where I feel transitioning won't conflict with my career because of how I've built up my networks. Hence I want to start the hormone replacement therapy to develop a decent amount of breast tissue. The plan for me is to use a stemcell breast fat grafting (to contour cleavage) + tear drop implants. But the pre requisite is that I require some breast tissue. I am currently flat as a surf board :(. I also don't feel comfortable going back to the hospital I worked at to do the surgery because I just think it will be awkward......I mean I used to work with these surgeons and to them it will come as a shock that I suddenly wants breasts.....Kinda want to avoid having to explain myself.

Anyways another question i have is, is there a way to prevent libido loss even while being on HRT? I personally am quite comfortable with my anatomy and am not looking to fully transition.

No I did laser hair removal. 8 sessions and they were all gone. And I tried finasteride. It was effective for a year then the hair loss progressed. Plus it caused libido loss and thats not something i personally want.

Hi Pengola,

I started HRT last June by taking low doses of spironolactone and finasteride, which was then supplemented with estradiol.  Spironolactone is an anti-androgen, and decreases testosterone biosynthesis as well as acting peripherally by blocking testosterone binding. Finasteride inhibits 5-alpha-reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the principle steroid responsible for androgenic alopecia. The combination is quite effective at stopping and possibly reversing baldness due to the down-regulation or loss of androgen-sensitive hair follicles. In addition, you will likely see less oily skin and possibly some gynecomastia, depending on the doses. Unfortunately, decreased libido is also a possibility.

I had significant male-pattern baldness, about a Norwood Type IV (pronounced widows peak, thinning on top of head and visible scalp at crown).  Eight months later, I can no longer see any scalp at the crown of my head, and there is now noticeable hair growth along my frontal hairline.  It will probably take another year before the hair growth is cosmetically significant (i.e., I can comb it), but it definitely is going in the right direction.

I hope that helps.

With kindness,

Terri

Hrt rogaine finesteride and a dermaroller grew mine back to girl.  A month in on derma.  I pass female in short hair and no wig.  I passed the bathroom test without makeup on lol.

You have to stay on it, you will shed at first, gotta give it 3 to 6 months.

Hi sorry can you please clarify which factor will make me shed first? Rogaine, finesteride, hrt or all the above haha

LOL

Rogaine.

I'm shedding right now on the dermaroller a month in.  I see lots of little 1/4 inch hairs coming in though, it'll be worth it.

Finesteride and HRT .. no worries.

Lol hahah that made me giggle :)

I guess ill do HRT plus finesteride but is there a way to prevent libido loss though? Also has HRT ever given erectile dysfunction to any of you? Sorry if that questions seems invasive. Its an issue for me because I am actually comfortable with my anatomy and so is my partner.

Lobido depends on dose levels, estrogen blood serums.  Personally i am completely female in bed...though i can get agressive.  Cialis is prescribed to offset the ed issues.

Mine as far as im converned is a dissasociated body member of sorts that functions in a female way.  Its hard to explain.

Hrt is very powerful stuff.  Think and research it carefully.

I had to do it personally.  Dysphoria is no joke.

:)

I hate how everything has potential side effects haha. I googled cialis and a ton of potential minor and major side effects came up :S

May I ask though, is the libido loss permanent in most cases?

  •

Satinjoy

Lol i have plenty of libido but its all sh'e.

Id get the op if i could.  Mitigating circumstances.

Low dose hrt is an option too for you.  Im not low dose so its based on hearing other nbs.  You need to hear from them.

Physically and sexually i am very mtf bodied and motivated.  A bottom darling, not a top.

Lots to consider isnt there?

So funny socially out with the wife i look like a guy with long nails and shirts a bit too large.  Lol guess why....HAH!

Think it through.  I cant have sex with my wife she wont go for it.  Not with me female in bed.

Its real tough on our mates honey.  Big stuff to handle.

I ask about libido not because i'm a top but because the men I tend to be with are attracted to my anatomy. Plus I been on finesteride before and had libido loss and my sex life just wasn't as good, regardless of my preferred sexual position.

Ymmv honey....

I was and am always rather sensual...
Maybe another of us would like to comment?
