Which trans-friendly therapists, if any, work with United Healthcare insurance?

Basically, I'm an aspiring eunuch from Orange County, California who is trying to find some trans-friendly therapists who work with United Healthcare insurance. After all, I want to try getting at least one therapist letter before I will actually get an orchiectomy. :)

I also have united healthcare and I found my psych through the UHC website. You can search for professionals in your area that are covered from mental health to specialists.

Can you please show me how to do such a search using the UHC website? Completely serious question and request, for the record.

I am a case manager for UHC in Florida.  Go to myuhc.com ans register.  Then go to find a provider and search geographically.  The site can get confusing but it does work.  Good luck.

Is registration completely free, though?

This is from another posting:

You can search by zip code, then narrow down by insurance/fees, specialties...even whether you prefer a male or female. Each person/clinic/office has a page with loads of info. Usually a way to contact them via email, all the phone numbers, license stuff, educational background.

It should also indicate if they are avaialble for on-line therapy.

How exactly do I narrow down my search on that website, though? Completely serious question, for the record. After all, maybe I'm missing something, but (unfortunately) I don't see how exactly I can narrow down my search on that website. :(

The website has changed.

You could look here:

http://www.wpath.org/uploaded_files/140/custom/find_a_provider.cfm

I'd look up further reviews of each prospective candidate and ask them of experience with transgender people.

try the search tool at http://www.glitse.com/GLITSE_Search.htm
then you'll have to check the name of a therapist there against the search for doctors at the MYUHC site.
it wasn't that particular search tool that I used, but I found my therapist listed on a resource link, and looked him up to see if my plan will cover visits to him..I got lucky :)

but if you're in a bigger town, or near one, you will likely find more than I did.
do some google searching. there are lots of resources links out there..maybe a local LGBT site?

Based on the information on that website, though, there unfortunately don't appear to be any transgender therapists in Irvine, California :(:

Indeed, is there a United Healthcare ID card for people who have this insurance?

I don't understand how you don't have a card? Do you currently have united healthcare? Or are you in the process of getting on UHC?

The links to the site have been posted. If you do actually have UHC then you should already have an account with the site.

Frankly, I suspect that my parents have a card due to the fact that they are the ones who have this insurance. Indeed, I am simply on my parents' healthcare plan until age 26 (I'm currently 23 years old) due to Obamacare. :)

ahh makes sense, ask them for the card and or the info for the online account.

If you dont have an id card ask your parents for theirs there should be a toll free number on the back to request a new card to be sent to you then register and search for a provider

Why exactly should I request a new card, though?
