"A photographer has shared a powerful image in order to send an important message about the new laws.

Photographer Meg Bitton decided to shared her image of a young transgender client named Corey Maison earlier this week, in response to the anti-LGBT laws in North Carolina. "

No, it doesn't show hypocrisy at all.  Quite the opposite if you understand the beliefs of the people that support anti-trans laws.

Perhaps empathy will work but until people get it through their heads that transgender DOES NOT EQUAL pedophile or sex fiend there is no hope. Perhaps touching photos like this with the caption as it was "if this is your daughter would you be comfortable sending her to the men's room?" Perhaps the more people see transgender people as just normal people education will work. One can only hope.

I wish we would stop making the argument "she passes really, really well so we should let her use the correct restroom."

Our looks aren't what qualify or disqualify us from using the correct restroom. Our identities do, which are independent of our looks.

The haters or ignorant imagine a male presenting trans women using the bathroom, and either don't know or won't accept someone who passes. This image is for them. Once they can accept a passing trans women that then you're talking shades of gray in between and that's a lot harder position to argue from.
