Julie:)

Hi everyone,

I am looking to choose my SRS surgeon soon based on the what is most important to me and I can really use your opinions. I have learned a bit about the penile inversion vs non-inversion techniques and have done some research on Suporn, Bowers, McGinn and Brassard. I am taking money and location out of the equation for now and just focusing on what I want to achieve.

Most important to me are sensitivity, ability to orgasm and aesthetics. I am a lesbian and am not too concerned about depth. I was originally leaning towards western doctors since I don't need a ton of depth, however one thing I like about Suporn is the idea of having more sensitivity outside rather than inside the vagina. This makes me think that maybe a Suporn vagina is better for oral sex :P  Also, correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I think with the penile inversion technique your vag expands inside you when you are aroused. Honestly, that feeling does not sound very appealing to me.

I would really appreciate your thoughts on which doctor you think is best suited for what I am looking for. The research and decision-making part of this is a bit overwhelming!

Thanks,
Julie

I had my SRS with Dr. Brassard back in 2005. Orgasms are great, sensitive inside and out but more inside. Depth is ok, around 4.5 inches to begin with. When aroused the mons pubis becomes very engorged and can actually hurt, the inside of my vagina also expands. I lubricate fine and can even end up ejecting some liquid upon orgasm.

Aesthetically, looks good but could look better. Outer lips not perfectly symmetrical, one is slightly swollen, still to this day and bigger. Inner lips, thicker than average. He wasn't able to remove hairs inside my vagina so be sure to have genital electrolysis done if you choose this surgeon. Wait 6 months to 1 yr after last treatment to be sure all hairs are gone.

Most top surgeons have a track record of their patients having orgasmn.  I had my srs done at PAI and after 3 months I had my first orgasmn. I have heard that it's in our minds to achieve orgasmn after surgery and every surgeon has had failures.

Go for a surgeon you like and you feel confident in ....there is little difference in the top surgeons...they all have the same basic techniques ...even if some claim some special secret sauce that they have developed.
When we first start our journey the perception and moral values all dramatically change in wonderment. As we evolve further it all becomes normal again but the journey has changed us forever.

Every surgeon offers kind of a package. So there are a few things that might be considered.

You might have a look here:
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,193067.msg1721458.html#msg1721458

With Suporn there is a longer healing time, some people say a few months, and a possible painful dynamic dilation.
Looks can be good but usually people have revisions while they are there for 30 days.
Wit Suporn later revisions are included.

And for really excellent looks a revision after half a year may be necessary.
This is why some surgeons offer a two stage procedure.
Many people are happy with a one stage procedure though.
Usually its not possible to create delicate structures around the vagina right from the start.
So with some surgeons there may be bit of a hole like appearance in the lower part.
Its all within natural variation, you can look up wall of vaginas. There is a lot of variation with vaginas.

Suporn creates a secondary sensate organ, other people report good sensitivity from modified pi though.

In any case the prostate usually is left in place, which is hooked up via a second neuronal pathway from the clit.
It makes for a g/pspot, being of smilar tissue than in cis people.
So independently fom the clit there usually is a gspot.

Thanks for all of your answers and great info. I keep hearing that Brassard's results are very neat and tidy, which is appealing to me. The main thing holding me back from Suporn is the difficult recovery and more complicated procedure. I like Bowers but the waiting list is 2 1/2 years right now, so if I stay closer it may be between Brassard and McGinn.

I have a question for KarXo. You said that your vagina becomes engorged and expands. It's hard for me to imagine this feeling and it might make a difference in me choosing a Thai vs western doctor. If you don't mind me asking, does that feel good? Maybe I'm overthinking that aspect since I haven't heard of anyone complaining about it. Also, did you do any electrolysis at all before hand or skip it altogether? And one more question, sorry. Are you happy overall?

Thanks,
Julie

Hello I think my vagina looks nice and tidy...  While I'm OK with it some folk might prefer a more complex look.
Recently was shocked to find a woman I follow post herself completely nude on Twitter!  She underwent SRS in Thailand.  Mine is much more sensual to the eye.
But hey it's mine and no one complains.  Most just say it looks like and average vagina...I think thats a good thing...right?

Oh I went to Dr. Alexander Sinclair in Los Angeles.

Thank you,
Anne

Lol the north american surgeons usually produce a more tidy labia look while the thai surgeons produce more generous labia.
The north american surgeons usually are optimized for circumcized clients while the thai surgeons are for uncircumsized.
It may be possilble to ask for variation though.

Its simply a matter of preference imo.

I had exactly the same priorities you do (prefer sex with women, wanted sensitivity and aesthetics in that order, depth was not that important) and went to Brassard, and I am very pleased with the results. I was orgasmic in my sleep 3 weeks after surgery, the looks fooled a gynecologist into certifying that I was a cis woman post-hysterectomy, and the depth is adequate but not stunning. I definitely got the "tidy" look, but I like that.

I also have some sensitivity inside the vagina, but most of it it still outside; in fact, my clit is too sensitive to touch directly. I don't notice any sensation of my vagina swelling and expanding when aroused, nor has my wife observed that reaction, but I guess bodies are different...  Oh, and I'm able to self-lubricate to an occasionally alarming degree, including lubrication that increases with friction, just as cis women experience.

Ann, congrats on having such good results! I read another one of your posts and it sounds like Sinclair did an amazing job. I am also an OC girl. It would be nice to go somewhere so close to home. It just makes me nervous that there are hardly any reviews on him, so it seems like a safer bet for me to go with a more well-known doctor.

Jenna, if I get the results you had with Brassard I would be thrilled. Thanks for answering my question about the sensations. I am going to contact him and McGinn also to get as much info as I can on them. I am thinking more and more that I should stick to the US or Canada.

Might I suggest contacting Dr. Keelee MacPhee in North Carolina (Raleigh/Durham)?  She studied/trained under Dr. Marci Bowers and uses basically the same technique it sounds like.  So if you like Bowers' work, MacPhee sounds like a perfect alternative.  And she has no wait list at this time.  I am considering between her or McGinn.  MacPhee is so much closer to me that it may be the deciding factor.  You can read my consult questions/answers with MacPhee here: https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,196482.0.html

She's not got as many procedures under her belt, but she seems competent and capable.  If wait time is an issue for you, she's obviously a great choice.  Every surgeon has to start somewhere!  I've seen pictures and the results do seem to resemble Bowers' work as well.

I used Marci Bowers, for the past few months there has been constant arousal clitorial wise that was great a first but now is getting old. At first when contacting her office they thought it might be a hood issue but turns out it's not so still looking for a solution and until then just living with it. Now when I say living with it this means sometimes I have to stop what I am doing into the sensations pass and try and hide my facial expressions as that can be awkward to say the least.

Internal sensations are good enough but that is a non issue as I a lesbian, not into men.

Depth-wise, six-inches.

Appearance, from those who have seen this area and know about my surgery tell me looks no different than a cisgender person.

Overall, I am very pleased with the results.

No. It's painful.

Skip it as per surgeon's recommendations. Bad idea. Should've done it.

QuoteAnd one more question, sorry. Are you happy overall?

Mostly, yes but could be better, due to hair issue.

U had surgery with Dr. Schaff and it looks great. Even a MD thought I am CIS after seeing my vagina. Sensivity is great, no loss of feeling. I get great orgasms wheb penetrated or when my bf is playing with my clitoris. I get wet and there is no need for lubricants. There is no hair inside the vaginal.
