As someone looking on upon this craziness from the other side of the globe, I'm totally bewildered by what's currently happening in the USA. If it was 1616, I'd understand, but in 2016, with the average person having easy access to a wealth of knowledge about trans people via the internet, why is there such a crazy response? Why are we seen as sexual predators? Within weeks of starting HRT, my libido dropped dramatically. This is not the sort of thing I'd be welcoming if I was a sexual predator. In fact, I don't know of any 'man' who'd be ok with this!

We live in strange times.

I'm in the US and I see the violence of this country everyday on the news , but this stuff is really starting to get to me. Looking over your shoulder just to go to the washroom. As my avatar shows I can't use the men's room and now I can't use the women's either without fear.

Does this guy not realise how creepy it is to follow someone to the bathroom to check if they're using the 'right' one. And also 'dress like a man'; really. She was wearing shorts and a tshirt. So those are mens clothes now. Guess we should let every clothes shop in the US know so they stop selling them in the women's section to prevent people from getting 'confused'.

It is because there is a significant number of people that won't believe facts over what they heard from their authority figure whether that is Fox News or their pastor.  Any evidence that contradicts what they have heard from those authority figures is discounted as liberal lies.

I live in the USA and I've never had a problem. I think there are communities that are very insular so the understanding of why we do what we do hasn't filtered so there is still ignorance in those areas.

Having watched the two videos, the thought I had was that perhaps the guy is a ->-bleeped-<- ->-bleeped-<- who had followed a woman he'd misidentified as trans into the bathroom intending to rape her, and then backpedalled after realising his mistake. He could have made up the stuff about the "elderly mother" (of which there's no evidence in either video) and him being a self-appointed bathroom cop, as a way of extricating himself from the situation without the cops being called.

Wouldn't appointing yourself a "bathroom cop" and harassing individuals using a toilet be... well, some kind of offense in itself.
