Yep. At least four other transwomen work in my office building... that's the whole building, not just my office. And that's four others that I'm aware of... maybe there are more (there may of course be others there who haven't transitioned). And there may be trans guys too, I'm not so good at spotting the guys.

Admittedly the building is made up of various organisations that are specifically geared towards providing services to the LGBTIQ community, my organisation is probably one of the few in the building where that is not a strong parameter. But despite that, I think it's pretty amazing that a five level building with probably 150-200 workers has at least five transitioned transwomen.

But I'll think it's even more amazing when most office buildings have at least the same kind of ratio... and that it's so common it's not even worth mentioning!

I am pretty sure there isn't anyone at my old job(recently departed). I have to find a safer job to transition at because I am not rich! Haahahahahaha

I don't have any as coworkers as i work in a bar, but i see FTMs a lot as clients and they do fit with the others guys. Cool to see how good they blend together.

Most MTFs here had pretty sad stories, unemployed and homeless. It's sad to see how the society here, so open minded but yet so closed on this, act with them.

I also work in an lgbtq clinic part-time, there i see plenty too. Trying to help those who are sadly ready to "fill the society mold".


I was working in an hospital when i started my transition and there was at least 23 trans peoples that i was aware of working there.

The first two transwomen I was ever aware of (in 1989!) were in a university and hospital respectively. I wonder if the large number of staff in those institutions make it statistically more likely to bump into more than just two or three.

Large number of staff, good insurances and the fact that others peoples working here must respect you to the risk of losing their jobs.

I was correctly gendered even if i wasn't looking like a woman at all back then. It's fun to see how open minded peoples from this little town were.

There was one transgender woman working for my company but she quit before I came out.

That left one gay guy. He was relieved when I came out because he felt a little vulnerable and alone as the only representative of the LGBT community in the company

I have not noticed any trans women or guys other than me in my office building. Strangely enough I ran into a class mate from college who works in my building and who sat directly in front of me in class for about a month as I presented male and then for the rest of the semester as I presented female. Turns out that she did notice the change but didn't say anything at the time. She was very gracious about it when I told her as most everyone there has been.

I'm in a large company myself, but I've never seen another trans person there. Of course when I told them I was transitioning, they acted like all I was doing was changing my retirement contribution, like no big deal. There are probably several more like me in this company around the world that I've never and probably will never meet.

I really don't think the percentages of the population that are trans are accurate. I think they're accurate based on current information, but I think we make up a much larger percentage of the population than people think. I think there are lots more out there that just haven't had the courage to be known yet. I know if I hadn't done it when I did and saw the news these days, I'd be terrified of saying anything. Although the news makes it sound a lot scarier than it is, at least where I live.

I'd LOVE to know!! Still early because my coming out at work won't be before 2017 but it would be nice to know who's "on your side".

Large construction company of 600 employees I used to work at there were two of us. I ran the art department and the other girl ran the heavy haul trucking division.
  That was years ago but we still keep in touch, for a construction company the kind understanding and respect was amazingly nice.

When I was working at a large factory(5k-11k employees) of a multinational phone company I knew that an MtF transsexual girl left the company before I was there. There was another MtF in another shift who started transition, came out and gone full-time there. There were some openly gay/bisexual women and men there as well.
I was not in the mood of coming out after hearing my co-workers comments about LGBT stuff.
I have strong suspicions about 3 co-workers of mine at my current job(200 people) who maybe MtF but obviously I won't ask them about it.

Yes, the owner of our company is a postop woman.  As a result, if I were to elect medical procedures for myself, it would be no issue for time off.  I like that aspect.  Other than that, no real difference.

There were 4 transwomen including myself working on the trams & buses when I was a bus/tram driver. There was a large LGBT community there

The company I work for employs 2.2 million people so I imagine there are hundreds of us working there perhaps thousands. When you get to a certain size you can't really ignore the LGBT community at least

I work in a school system. I know of one other trans person (FtoM). When I talked to people in my administration, it became apparent that training was being contemplated because so many students were in need of assistance for gender issues. Without searching I know of at least 6 trans people in the sphere of who my family knows in my relatively small town. I don't believe any poll on the size of our population.

A while ago, there were 17000 full time people here at the headquarters.  I regularly interact with two other trans women.  All three of us are chemists.  I know about a few engineers.  They know a few others in support positions.  None of us give names to each other....
