Does anyone know what German Krankenkasse cover in terms of trans treatment? I have recently moved to Germany from the UK and am currently insured with Techniker. I transitioned over a decade ago and have had srs in the UK on the NHS, but will need to continue my prescription for hrt. I was also wondering what exactly German public health insurance will cover, whether it is the same as the UK or provides anything more.

Thanks

Your HRT will be covered. Just get a prescription from your Endo or Gyn. Which type of Estradiol are you taking? Injections are no longer sold in Germany therefore they are not covered. I buy them from the Czech Republic for a few Euros

GRS is also covered. What do you need as additional surgeries? I got a coverage for BA and VFS in Germany. But that depends on your current status of the breast development and Pitch/voice. Voice training is also covered.

Most important thing is to find a really good MD. Than everything is easy going.

I'm on patches, though I wouldn't mind changing to pills. Either way seems that that won't be a problem. I'm going to get a copy of my UK prescription, so it shpuld ne as simple as showing a doctor here that.

In terms of surgeries, I have had GRS in the UK. But the NHS won't cover anything 'cosmetic', so haven't had FFS or VFS , both of which I would really like. Don't think I want/need BA, after a decade on hrt they are fine. Do you know what specifically is covered by Krankenkasse, and whether it matters which company you are with?vLike I say currently I am with TK.

VFS can be covered in Germany, but you have to choose a German surgeon what I never would do.

TK ist okay, I am also there. The difference between each Insurance is rather small. I do not know a better Insurance for US.

Patches are covered, no problem. And also easy to get.

Do you know if TK cover hair removal? The NHS does not, so that's something I'm keen to get done. Especially given I'm 11 years post transition and 5 years post srs!
