Lump under skin at injection site

I feel like I post here asking about injection at least twice a month, lol. I use an 18g x 1.5 inch needle for drawing and a 23g x 1 inch for injecting, and this has been working fine since I switched from the thigh to the glute area for my injections. Also it helped that I can now ask my mom to inject me instead of having my own jitters get the better of me.

So, usual injection on Thursday, blah blah. I bled some, and it hurt more than it usually does, but that happens sometimes. On Friday evening, I'm sitting on a wooden chair at my desk, doing some work, like you do. I used to have a chair that was a more traditional office swivel chair, but it was used when I bought it and I'd had it for several years on top of that, so it was acting up for a few months, and then about eight weeks ago, it broke. So, a wooden chair was all I had to replace it with.

Well, I shifted, leaned back and stretched, then slouched for a second. I guess I put pressure on the injection site, because I became immediately aware of it. It felt like the needle was still under my skin.

So, I get up and I look at it, and sure enough, there's a bruise about the size of a penny, give or take. It's a deep purple, looks like it would hurt, etc. I gently prod it and realize, wow, that's really tender. But I felt of it and realized there's a lump there. I'd say it feels about as big as a cheerio or a very small blueberry.

Anyway, I've been on T for five months as of 17 May and this hasn't happened to me before. That's not to say that I'm panicking about it, by any stretch, but I wanted to put a question to the forum here and ask whether other people have experienced this and what, if anything, I ought to do about it.

I hesitate to google something like this, because like, if you ask Web MD or whatever something like this, it'll be like, you have cancer and are going to die slowly and painfully. Or it could be nothing. So I figured, of the resources I have available to me, this forum is probably the most reliable and useful.

Thanks for any insight! I hope you're all doing well today.

Sounds like nothing more than a little hematoma, which is pretty much a clot of blood under the skin. It should go away in a week or so. If it doesn't go away in a couple of weeks, or if it starts feeling really hot and tender, then you might want to have your doc look at it in case you have an infection. Otherwise, no worries.

That was my initial hypothesis. I have limited experience in this sort of thing, so I thought it better to ask than to just assume. And as I said, I tend to avoid asking Google for medical related advice.

I probably wouldn't have even noticed it except that it's, you know, on my butt :P I bruise pretty easily to begin with but lumps like that are less common, at least for me. It was more painful than usual, and idk why, but I just assumed maybe the needle brushed up against a nerve ending or something. But yeah, unless I find myself numb and/or paralyzed, I'm not terribly worried about that, either. I'm just naturally curious about this stuff.

Agree with Tysilio. I've had one weird injection over the 18 months I've been on T, and it was definitely anxiety-inducing. Don't feel bad for posting :) Just keep an eye on it and see how it improves. I think the advice I got when I posted about my weird one was to watch for temperature and coloration changes.
