This is a product my doctor told me about. He tells all his ftm patients to try it out.

I have heard of testosterone Blockers for mtf but never estrogen Blockers. Has anyone here tried some?

This is an item bought specifically on amazon and other websites, so it's not a prescription. Therefore, I hope giving the name isn't a big deal but if it is, I understand the removal of the name.

The name of this product is DIM. I think there may be others but my doctor referred me to try this one out from Amazon.

He said he recommends it because it can help speed up the process of testosterone. Has anyone tried it with positive results? I plan on trying it but not quite yet since I just started testosterone.

There are estrogen blockers and they are used from the start of puberty until the start of T to inhibit puberty. DIM isn't a drug normally used to block estrogen and normally once you start T, the T will suppress estrogen levels. As for recommending you take DIM, I don't know enough to advise you on this. You may need to have another discussion with your doctor if you  are unsure about his advice.

If you're on T, you will probably not see much benefit from an estrogen blocker. Those are usually prescribed pre-T to stop puberty in young people. If you're on T, it will suppress your estrogen production.

I imagine this product is probably a lot like the T boosters that are available over the counter. I personally would not waste my money on them when I have perfectly good hormones that are doing the same thing.

Thanks for the quick responses. My doctor said his patients that take DIM see faster transitions that others. I know everyone is different so I figured it could just be a coincidence because he has one patient that has a growing beard at 7 months on T and I see a ton of people say they grow thin and patchy facial hair until after a year. This guy doesn't use DIM so he's just one of the lucky ones. I don't know anyone on DIM personally but I did recommend it to a guy that's still growing and not yet on testosterone. His curves and breasts are getting bigger still so I told him to check it out.

You should probably be encouraging people to speak with their doctors before they spend money on over the counter products that may or may not help them. I'm not sure why you would recommend something that you hadn't personally had experience or success with.

I've honestly never heard of a doctor recommending any kind of over the counter supplement in place of prescription blockers or HRT when they are available, or as a means to boost their effects. Prescription strength stuff works great on its own for most people.

Yeah, beard growth is gonna be genetic. Think back to junior high and high school, some boys got other changes long before they could grow any kind of beard.

Your immediate family is your best clue as to beard growth expectations. If you're adopted, a genetic test could tell you what part of the world your DNA is from and give you some kind of guess. (Generally speaking, Mediterranean DNA = hairy and fast.)

So DIM (Dindolylmethane) is naturally occurring in vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower & Brussels sprouts. Evidently its been shown to block estrogen production. I'm a huge fan of these veggies so if that's an added benefit, I'm all for it.
