Hey good morning you political junkies,

Did you tune in to the network or cable Trump news shows lately? ;)

Due to the happy nexus of being an elected official x2, queer and transgender, and a woman; yours truly is now an elected Bernie Sanders delegate and going to my State Democratic Convention this month and then off to Philadelphia in July for the DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION!  I am totally excited and considering ways to influence the the future Democratic Platform moving forward.  You might guess I will again lobby for Transgender people and our civil rights!

I trust our Philly will remain the city of brotherly (and sisterly) love while the Republican National Convention in Cleveland may shed more heat than light with threats of confrontation already.

Please wish me well and let me know your thoughts about platform and political reforms for the Dems.

even though I'm a Cintonian I wish you the best and nail some platforms for us wanderers in the desert. and also be in bed at a reasonable hour.

I'm for Donald Trump for president and will be voting for him in Nov along with millions of voters who are tired of crooks in our presidential office.

I am a hard core political junkie. I know all the issues. I know facts, numbers, names and all that goes with it. We do tend to focus on single issues when we vote and often times over look things that are really important. But this year, it is a single issue for me.

Until I feel like the state doesn't want me dead, I want every politician to know that I have human rights. The Dems are on board with this. The other party, not so much. Once we have decided that everyone in this country has the same rights to exist and function within our society, we can get back to governance. It seems silly this has been in the way for so long but it must end! Once we get back to arguing over line items in a budget, both parties will be more able to get along.

I used to be a Republican. Not now. Will I ever go back? Not to this Republican party.

Yes, we are not talking about so called "special rights" we are simply demanding equal civil rights for all, period!

Ah yes, there will be late nights ahead and wearing platform heels while wandering may not be what you meant? ;D ;D

Secretary Clinton will likely be our nominee and my focus will be on reforms and platform planks.  Sometimes it takes a 2X4  ;D

I've never felt that Sanders and Clinton were that far apart on policy. Yes, they have differences but they are minuscule compared to the positions on the other side.

I'm proud that you will be there representing US. I wonder how many of US would feel welcome at the other party's convention?

Wield your 2x4 with care. But make it sink in when you swing it! And... have a blast.

Cindy I was referring metaphorically to the term "plank"  ;D  I talk (too much) but only carry a stick when hiking the trails. ;D  And thank you!

Yeah, I got that. I just love to milk a double entendre or something misconstrued for everything it's worth.

FWIW, I was on the fence about who to vote for until this last weekend. I live in California so I had that luxury. It doesn't matter who I voted for. I tend to keep that private. It doesn't matter now, does it? We move forward.

Both conventions are coronations anyway. I still remember that the candidates went in with the most in the count, but not the majority. These uncertainties and floor fights were fun to watch when I was kid.

the best one for fights was the 68 convention in Chicago, I was a senior in High school and me and my friends went down to Lincoln Park after school and watched all the cops in riot gear in columns marching through the park.

I would love to go but have no time for it as July is a pretty busy month for my business travel. If it was in the west I would likely go. At one time i was also a conservative. Very far from it now. I finally registered as a Democrat last year, although in truth the Dems are a bit to far to the right on many issues. I consider myself Socialist as does Sanders.

I would have preferred Sanders, but i will happily support Clinton. I'm excited that Sanders will likely influence the party, the platform and other candidates.

I re-registered temporarily as a Democrat so I could vote for Sanders in the California primary.  Now that's over, I will re-register back into my old Peace and Freedom Party status.  In the long term, I don't want to be a member of any party that isn't committed to socialism.

Boss! Congrats and the rest, I was just in North Dakota helping out the mini-campaign office up on the border, in Fargo. Those cats know how to have a good time, I tell you what; I just wish we'd knocked on more doors!

The missus and I are going to the DNC, too, albeit in nothing so prestigious as the official capacity you now occupy. We should meet up sometime for a meal or what-have-you, we'll be in town most of the week. I know a lot of people are less than satisfied with BernieBnB's set up, IE it's lack of activity, but it'll get figured out for sure.

Bernie or bust!

Hillary is a career criminal and Trump is an overt racist. I hope you represent us well! Much love to you and hopefully you can convert some people to support Bernie!

Make sure you go armed with tons of information and stats to back yourself up and defend from the ridiculous arguments against him. I've seen a lot of misinformation spreading around, for example some Hilbots saying Bernie just joined LGBT rights movement - but he has been supporting us for over 30 years.

The entire DNC and MSM has been against Bernie from the beginning, nearly 500 super delegates were counted against him before anyone even voted. Now there are over a million ballots that have been tossed aside and there are several lawsuits in motion suing the DNC for election fraud.

(Ahem... gives gentle shove to get thread back on topic)

Tessa, I think it's great that you're going!  Even though you're a delegate from that hippie state in the northwest, I'll feel like my interests are represented, for once. You even know what they are: peace, freedom, justice, all that good stuff...

Never bring an umbrella to a coyote fight.

Welcome aboard Victoria,

I am no fan of the "super delegate" system and will work to eliminate it.

Hey Mol,

I actually lived through a winter in Fargo as a teenager, way long ago ;)  Not sure where we will stay in Philly; recommendations anyone?  Yes it would be fun to meet up.
