Hey again everyone, over the past few weeks I have posted personal experiences that were completely positive however it is with great regret that I post about an experience that occurred earlier today that was aimed not at me but my family more specifically my 6 year old daughter.

Today I decided that it was time to come out to my 6 year old daughter about the changes that were happening with her dad, I along with my wife sat down with our daughter and explained what was going to be happening and that she would be seeing her dad looking more like a girl and to our surprise her reaction was mostly positive with a few confusing questions (lets be honest, at such a young age questions are expected) yet the overall result was positive in many ways. My wife decided that I should spend the day with my daughter (our son is too young to understand) and I couldn't agree more.

Our adventure started out at around noon with lunch at her favorite place to eat (McDonalds) which actually sounded good so we made our way to the closest location and upon our arrival we were treated very well with a few glimpses from customers but nothing too bad, after lunch we decided to go to our local shopping mall to walk off our heavy lunch. Most of our time walking the mall was okay, I got the usual looks from customers but again nothing too bad so we decided to stop at the Build-A-Bear to purchase a few bears for her graduation and this is where our girls day out went completely bad in the worst way possible.

While my daughter was getting her bears stuffed we were approached by two ladies and they began to berate me without mercy about how I am an abomination to the lord and would burn in the first of heck for going against the lord and savior, this tantrum continued for about 15 minutes and the employees and managers opted to remain as far away from the scene. I along with my daughter ignored their rant and continued with our business and left the store after completing our purchase. Things took a turn for the worse when both ladies followed us to the exit of the mall and continued their verbal assault however this time their target was not me but my 6 year old daughter. They began using profanities to tell her that her "father" was (out of respect I will not list what they told her but let me assure you the words were bad enough to warrant my daughter breaking down in tears and the police arriving to escort both of us to safety) different.

As we entered our vehicle my daughter began to hyperventilate from the verbal assault and was taken to the emergency room where she was kept for a few hours until her vitals were stable, we were informed by police officers that they obtained the ladies information and would like to know if I wanted to press charges on both of them for harassment, I told the officers that my focus was on the well being of my daughter at the moment and I would speak with them once we returned home.

UPDATE:  My daughter was diagnosed with elevated heart rate and high blood pressure, she was discharged from the hospital a few hours ago with a clean bill of health.

I'm glad your daughter got a clean bill of health.  As for the other, press charges.  This kind of crap has to stop.

Press charges, they assaulted your daughter and should face the law.

Definitely press charges. Hopefully you'll spare either yourselves or others this in the future.

Have the police deliver a letter that states charges will not be levied against them, this time, because that is what God would want.  If they do it again sue them into oblivion.

It disgusts me how many "Christians" berate others, while failing to follow the bibles teachings themselves.  But that's another story, and beyond the scope of this thread, but gives the reasoning for my answer.

Agrees.  If charges don't stick, go civil.  Hit them where it hurts  their wallet. 

However, depending upon where you live (trans friendly area?) may dictate whether you should do that or not.

I learned at the age of 5yrs that bullies don't like it if you stand up for yourself, they like complacite people, people who appear weak. See Christian's don't do that too me for I know the truth of their jesus and their pagan Christian roots,last time I was confronted by a Christian about attending their church,I said no for their preacher doesn't know the bible very well and isn't learned even with a PhD in religious theology. See I had talked to that preacher previously and he didn't like me for he found with his fancy degree that he actually knew nothing when it came to the truth of the bible,did that with a few preachers and they told me I wasn't welcome to their church for I would convert them away from Christianity. So go learn the bible it's great ammo when confronted by a quack.

Sorry it happened to you. Those type of people are Christo-facists with little in common with the faith or Christ. Those are the same type of people that would have been shouting "burn the witch " in Salem in the 17th century or cheering Christian soldiers on to one of the crusades. Their leaders whip them up and they feed on each other's bad behavior.

I would definitely file a complaint, i would also file a complaint with the mall for not providing adequate security for you and your daughter. There may be grounds for litigation here. If that ever happens again fine the nearest law enforcement or security.

Ok on a serious note...when the Catholic/universal church took power alot of true believers were killed by the Catholic church during their reign of power over nations. Ever wonder why the Catholic church is the only one with embassies from nations around the world, even the United States. My anscestors ran from England to America in 1625 to escape from religious persecution because they dared to follow a way not ok'd by Rome or England. This behavior is nothing new.

It's bad enough that they harassed you.  Sick people.  But only the truly depraved intentionally hurt a 6-year-old girl.

I apologize for the lack of replies but thank you for the suggestions, I did proceed to press charges against both person's and agreed to drop all charges if certain conditions were met. First and foremost I requested a public apology to air on the news apologizing to not only me and my daughter but to the entire community for their actions and second I asked that both person's volunteer their time for various projects that I was a part of (I work in conjunction with other transpeople in hosting seminars and family events). As of press time they have given no response therefore when their window of opportunity closes I will pursue full legal action against both people.

Someone mentioned that I should file a lawsuit again the shopping mall for lack of security however I will NOT take such action as security did not intervene as they were not informed of the disturbance however local law enforcement officers has an office in the shopping mall and our vehicle was parked in front of their office and exit which allowed officers to witness the harassment.

I like this.  Good solution to give them an out, even though they likely won't take it.

Glad you are pressing charges. They ought to be responsible for that ER bill as well. Nasty pieces of work!

First and foremost my heart and prayers go out to all the families in Orlando 

UPDATE:

The window of opportunity has passed on the option to have this situation disappear and as expected I nor my lawyer heard from the other party therefore I moved on to file a civil lawsuit however my lawyer met with the courts and district attorney who advised that this was an isolated incident and is not grounds for a lawsuit as nobody was hurt by the incident (apparently my 6 yr old daughter's hospital stay was not major in the court's eyes). The DA decided that all charges are to be dropped immediately without the possibility of any type of legal action being taken in the future.

After hearing the decision of the District Attorney I became so furious not because of what the other party did to me but what they did to my young daughter and the fact that the courts overlooked at the damage they did to her. I can assure you that if the roles were reversed and I harassed them I would be arrested and found guilty of harassment with a severe punishment handed down. My daughter asked me "why did they not get punished for being mean to us" and I said that there are people who are bullies however we never judge them for what they do as they will soon know how it feels to be bullied. She said "I know and when the time comes they will not like it"

I don't really know what to say, but that's appalling. Perhaps you can get the media to take some interest in whats going on.

Have you considered civil action?  That you do with a lawyer and don't need law enforcement to do anything.  As long as a complaint was filed and recorded you have a good case against then for pain and suffering.

Can I just say, that's not the reason it maintains embassies. That is because the Vatican is a nation state, and until the 1870's the Papal States was an independent entity taking up much of what is now Italy, with the Pope as monarch. After Italian unification, the area under Papal control was shrunk to the Vatican City.

That's the only reason. There is no outlandish or invidious (or even religious) reason why it has nation state status and therefore sends out ambassadors, and there is no legal precedent to strip a country (however tiny) of that status, or the customs that come with it. And what a dangerous precedent that would be to set!

Every country has a right to refuse a foreign embassy being presented to it - but without any diplomatic reason to break ties with whatever nation state the embassy was from, it would be an aggressive act. A diplomatic reason doesn't tend to include not liking the way that country conducts itself, or what it believes and promotes. If that was the case, there would be a lot of embassies from a lot of countries being ordered out of everywhere.

Your information is wrong, and whoever gave it to you in that way had an axe to grind. There are a lot of reasons to be suspicious of organized religion, but this particular feature of the Catholic Church is not one of them.

As to this event - hope the person pressed charges. Surprised that two people screaming at a child weren't removed from the mall. I hope they're now banned.
