Hey all,

I am new here and am just seeking some advice:
I am a 14 year old male (born male) and for a year or two I have known I am gay.
Thoughts of 'am I transgender?' have crossed my mind but I have always been happy being male. Sometimes I feel I don't fit in with certain types of boys, like sporty ones, but I attribute that to being gay.
More recently, I have had the desire to be female but ONLY sexually. I am fairly sure I am comfortable being a male during 'life', so to speak, and when I imagine myself in the future I am a man.
But during sex I would prefer to be female. To the point where I have had sex dreams from a woman's point of view, which really scared me. The only other time I have wanted to be female is in the context of wanting to have more female friendships with people, as in treating eachother like girls do.

I am posting here as much of the advice I have seen says if you have to question it, you probably are trans. But it seems strange to me that I should only want to be a woman sexually and not in general life (eg clothing.)

Sorry for such a long post!
Could anyone with experience please help me?
Thanks!

I'm sure you will get some good info from people after I post, but I will offer an opinion. To me it sounds like you are talking about sexual orientation rather than feelings of being transgender. It sounds like you have more interest in a feminine role as a gay person. That doesn't mean you have to be transgender. Being so young, I don't know, I guess I didn't have things figured out at that point either. I expect things will get clearer as you get a little older also.
Best wishes!

If I ever offend you, let me know. It's not what I am about.

Welcome to Susan's Place. There are two issues here:
1. Sexual preference - who you want to go to bed with.
2. Gender Identity - who you want to go to bed as.
Sexual preference make you heterosexual, homosexual, bi sexual and Asexual
Gender Identity determines if you have male or female body. If your gender identity disagrees with you current body, that puts you in the transsexual or the non binary. Sexual preference is not involved in the decision as to if you are transgender. If you are transgender like a CIS person, you may have any one of the four sexual preferences.

Now, someone who is transgender has a dysphoria where they are uncomfortable with their body or with their role in society. What you describe sound like you are not uncomfortable with your body and at present it is more of a sexual desire. We have had a few people visit this site who feel this way but it is very rare and they haven't been around long enough for us to learn about them.

That said, I am going to give you a two links to look at. The first is our WIKI where you will learn about the known transgender variations. The second link is "the transition channel" where you can determine if what you feel is transsexualism. Review these links and let us know if you have questions.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.
