Hi all,
I was born male, but I have always been female in my soul, heart and mind all my life. I recently found a gender therapist and I plan to start talking to her very soon. I wanted to say hi to everyone and introduce myself.
I am a MtF transgender. I am not really familiar with the lingo, but I know who I am.
I am 39 and I have chosen the name Emily.
I have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance through my company, but when I contacted them, they told me they won't cover any costs associated with being transgender. I do have medication coverage, but they advised they will cover medication costs except those associated with being transgender. I think this is so wrong.
Anyway, the main reason I am here is to make friends with people like me. To not only be supportive, but also to build a support network.
I definitely did not choose to be transgender. I think it is part of my DNA. But, I am not going to deny myself anymore. I am going to embrace my identity and be true to myself. But, I am sure this journey is going to be difficult.
