That's easy: self righteousness.  It destroys everyone within blast range, including the perpetrator.  Sort of like the suicide bombers of spirituality.  The sad part is they think they're helping the people around them.

Beliefs- No proof  can lead to a quick end.

christian side = not accepting jesus christ as your savior.  its the only sin with permanent  consequences. 

I agree with all of the above.  I just want to add another deadly sin is taking a life.  Why?  Because no one has the right to take someone's life.  We can think of so many reasons to justify it, war, revenge etc. but snuffing out a life is a sin. 

I want to say though, there was a time I wanted to take a life.  I thought long and hard about it, it consumed my whole being, I couldn't stop thinking about it. 


But I didn't, not because I would go to jail, that person has already given me a life sentence, but I didn't because they have the right to a life, but I could disturb their quality of life by taking a different course of action.  That course was seeking justice.

Cruelty.  Unnecessarily causing any person or creature pain.

Pride, of the over-weening, outwardly-directed sort.

Let's review the cardinal sins:

It is the mistake of expecting people to give you the same consideration, courtesy, and respect that you naturally give them. They won't. Instead Satanists must strive to apply the dictum of "Do unto others as they do onto you." It's work for most of us and requires constant vigilance lest you slip into a comfortable illusion of everyone being like you. As has been said, certain utopias would be ideal in a nation of philosophers, but unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, from a Machiavellian viewpoint) we are from that point.

4) Self-Deceit --It's in the Nine Satanic Statement but deserves to be repeated here. Another cardinal sin. We must not pay homage to any of the sacred cows presented to us, including the roles we are expected to play ourselves. The only time self-deceit should be entered is when it is fun, and with awareness. But then, it's not self-deceit!

5) Herd Conformity --That's obvious from a Satanic stance. It's all right to conform to a person's wishes, if it ultimately benefits you. But only fools follow along with the herd, letting an impersonal entity dictate to you. The key is to choose a master wisely instead of being enslaved by the whims of many.

6) Lack of Perspective --Again, this one can lead to a lot of pain for a Satanist. You must never lose sight of who and what you are, and what a threat you can be, by your very existence. We are making history right now, everyday. Always keep the wider historical and social picture in mind. That is an important key to both Lesser and Greater Magic. See the patterns and fit the things together as you want the pieces to fall into place. So not be swayed herd constraints--know that you are working on another level entirely from the rest of the world.

7) Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxy's --Be aware that this one of the keys to brainwashing people into accepting something as "new" and "different," when in reality it's something that was once widely accepted but is now presented in a new package. We are expected to rave about the genius of the "creator" and forget the original. This makes for a disposable society.

Counterproductive Pride --The first word is important. Pride is great up to the point you begin to throw out the baby with the bathwater. The rule of Satanism is if it works for you, great. When it stops working for you, when you've painted yourself into a corner and the only way out is to say, "I'm sorry, I made a mistake, I wish we could compromise somehow," then do it

9) Lack of Aesthetics --This is the physical application of the Balance Factor. It is important in Lesser Magic and should be cultivated. It is obvious that no one can collect any money off it most of the time so it is discouraged in a consumer society, but is an essential Satanic tool and must be applied for magical effectiveness. It's not what's supposed to be pleasing--it's what is. Aesthetics is a highly personal thing, reflective of one's own nature, but there are universally pleasing and harmonious configurations that should not be denied.

Well the classics are Pride, greed, envy, lust, rage(wrath), gluttony and sloth.  And at least if your really into sloth, odds are you are not going to commit any of the rest.  Our modern consumer society is built on envy and greed, so that's a lot of marketing types and business people going to hell.

Murder is bad, as it can never be reversed.  Dead is dead, and once dead people don't get better.

Rape is horrible, so that's up there.  Stupidity is self punishing, like gluttony. 

I think that crossing picket lines and working as a strike breaker are right up there too.

Failure to respect life whether it be yours, someone else, or something else.

Under this, fall all the other detrimental human behaviours.

I'm not big on considering our frailties as "sin".  Sin is a religious word.  It invokes the promise of punishment in return from the supreme being.  The bad deed in itself, is sad.  Why would a loving God, want to compound the tragedy? Once we as a society can learn to respect other life, all of the other fodder will fall to the way side.

BTW Tink,  I am stupid, pretentious, and forgetful.  Let the castigation begin!

truly i agree. i think that there a lot of great non christians and even a lot of lousy christians.  i believe that it is everyones duty to make the world a better place every day no matter who they claim or dont claim as a higher power. i really like everyone on here a lot. we all have a kind of bond that no one outside of here (except other tg individuals of course) understands.  the thing that saddens me is the END result.

western thought is great. I think Analytic philosophy is good stuff on the whole. Empiricism, the pursuit of knowledge through experiment rather than reason (reason just seeming to me to be a sort of daydreaming). It was continental philosophy that I was against, not western. Analytic as opposed to continental philosophy focusses on individual problems, in experiments, rather than the large 'thesis' type philosophies of the continental tradition. No grand theories. Then there's the positivism, the idea that philosophy is a way of clarifying truths that exist to be discovered scientifically, as opposed to the idea that philosophical 'truths' are the basis of all other truths.

The philosophy that lead to useful and actual benefit and increase of mankind's knowledge (e.g Newton) is much less quotable.
