Hey guys, I wanted to know if any of you in here considered tattooing your scars?  I am currently considering it as there are no other options to cover up my ongoing depression. I won't be fine with them fading over time because I know that they will never look normal. I can't look at my chest the same way I couldn't look at my chest pre-op. The only difference is the madness turning into sadness and a permanent one at that, so they're both indeed negative emotions which didn't really solve anything much.
I never had any tattoing done before in my life nor would I have considered it but now I think this is the one for me.  I am wondering though if it will be effective to fit my needs... I mean obviously the scar textures are going to be there. But will it actually cover the scars and look natural?  Or does it depend on the ink colors?  I don't want to get overpowering like black.  Any experiences even if not with top surgery scars but scars in general?

The best thing to do is find a very reputable plastic surgeon and ask them for advice. There are tattoo artist and also permanent cosmetic people where one may very well be better than the other. My guess is the one that is good at permanent cosmetic would be the first place to check out the possibilities with. Perhaps to achieve your goals both might play at part in this.

I had a terrible experience with my top surgery surgeon so that one is out of the question but I did speak with a person who does such cosmetic procedure and they even said that they wouldn't be able to camouflage the scars to match the surrounding skin tone and make it look natural because my scars are both hypo and hyper pigmented so it wouldn't work.
I am planning on getting medical tattoo for the nipples though but my main concern is the incisions.

How much time has passed post op? A lot of people look dramatically different at one year versus three months.

Well more than a year has passed for me actually.
I am still actively looking for DI post op guys online but I am only seeing a few people who have done it for the scars. I am actually kind of surprised that they don't mind covering the scars when their surrounding areas and arms are covered with tattoos.I wish I could feel neutral about mine and I have tried many times but it doesn't work.
I just have to not look at it for me to not feel the sadness.
