Hi guys.

My name is Aleah from Australia. I transitioned five years ago when 19 and have up until this point not been able to hasve surgeries done but the time has finally come! I have pretty much made up my mind about undergoing full srs and BA in thailand next year. I have chosen to go to the Preecha Aesthetic Institute and have Dr Sutin perform my surgeries. Any first hand experience, info or advice you could give me about the experience etc would be amazing! Please let me know :) im new here so I dont know to much about how all this works. Ps i finally got my gender marker changed on all my documents today so i am feeling super excited. I didnt know that my country allowed it until recently so it was a surprise when i heard about law changes in 2013 haha idiot!

I chose Dr. Chettawut over PAI, so I can't offer any personal experience about that fine organization.  I was wondering, though, why you are choosing the penile inversion method for GRS over the non-penile inversion method (scrotal skin graft method) which many consider to give better aesthetic and sensory results?  Also, unlike the  latter method, genital electrolysis is highly recommended prior to the penile inversion method to minimize the chances of vaginal hair growth post-op.  On the other hand the penile inversion method can be performed in 1/3 the time, and recovery is usually faster.

Hi Aleah, I only just saw this. Good luck with your PAI surgery. I wrote up on my experience here:

I have found them to be wonderful.

Great choice and I'm a Dr Sutin girl. He did a fantastic job. Now, 8 months post op and living in Bangkok. The aesthetics are wonderful and had orgasms after 3 months. My depth is 6 ins with the largest dialator number 3 which is akin to Dr Chetts number 4.

Just to correct Clara, they use a combination of penile inversion and use the scrotal skin..just like Dr Chett. All the top surgeons use the same technique with something extra as a marketing gimmic.
When we first start our journey the perception and moral values all dramatically change in wonderment. As we evolve further it all becomes normal again but the journey has changed us forever.

Can't comment on the reason or result, but I don't think the techniques are the same.

According to Dr Preecha's recent paper "Still, when there is abundant penile skin, the vagina is solely lined with penile skin". Dr Preecha's technique is to use scrotal skin only as a supplement to get depth when there's not enough penile skin. He says "it is common practice in many centres to use an additional graft or flap when the amount of available penile skin is considered inadequate to line the new vaginal cavity to provide adequate vaginal depth."

Dr Suporn doesn't use penile skin for the vagina at all, using entirely scrotal skin. Dr Chettawut uses scrotal skin and sometimes supplements it with a groin skin graft (no idea why that difference).

The paper is this one

You are correct about Dr. Chet, AnonyMs.  He calls his method "non-penile inversion".  He uses penile tissue to construct the vulva (clitoris, clitoral hood, the labia minora, and the inner portion of the labia majora).  The vulval vestibule is made from urethra mucosal tissue to provide some lubrication.  The vagina is constructed from scrotal skin cleaned (scraped) of all fat and hair follicles.  If there is insufficient scrotal skin, there is probably insufficient leftover penile skin as well, so he uses groin skin to augment the scrotal skin grafts to achieve the desired vaginal depth (unlike Dr. Suporn who is known to 'mesh' scrotal skin to increase its area coverage for constructing the vaginal lining.  It's Dr. Suporn's skin meshing approach which extends the recovery period for those who need it).
