I was a solo Chet patient in December. It wasn't easy at times but those times passed as they always do.
After you return to the hotel, the nurses visit every day except Sunday. My visits were quite fast but they are there for you and they brief Chet once they return to the clinic.
There will be others staying at the Dusit while you are there. If you don't connect beforehand, ask Sri or Nom when they visit to make some connections.
Doing as little as possible afterwards is fine. If you are happy with your own company, you will be fine. Use the Internet to keep connected with folk from home. I was in the clinic over Christmas so video calls home helped a lot. If you are worried about the quality of hotel wifi, get a Thai sim at the airport on arrival. I wasn't at the Dusit so I am not sure what it's wifi is like. At the clinic it was good.
I only had one flight from Australia to Thailand to worry about so that part wasn't hard. My FFS was harder travelling to Mexico but still not a biggie. Arrival at Bangkok is simple and you will find the driver easily.
I didn't need help so much as just company. I made friends with one of the hotel staff. It used to take her about an hour to clean my apartment. We would just chat ! I was at the Vertical Suite up the road from the Dusit and stocked up with stuff before surgery and was able to venture out after the pee bag went. I was just back from the supermarket when Sri arrived and said I could start leaving the hotel!!!! The Dusit is right next door to Seacon Square so you will not need to be outside in the heat for long.
If you need advice while alone, drop a message on here. You will get a response very quickly regardless of time zones. There is a huge amount of hard-won knowledge on tap here at Susan's. You might (if you haven't already) try to find Bambi's Guide online. It has a lot of good Bangkok awareness stuff along with Chet experiences. Lots of photos. Very useful especially around what to bring and what to expect. That might settle your nerves a bit too. Let me know if you can't find it and I will dig out a link.
All the best. It is an exciting time for you. I will be thinking of you over the coming weeks.
