Waiting times for top surgery in the UK (I feel like life is on hold)

I am five months on testosterone. I have an appointment in Nottingham gender clinic on 19th August, which is my second post-testosterone appointment. From what I have been told by other guys who use my clinic, my appointment after that is the earliest my referral for top surgery is to be sent off.

I was wondering if people knew what the waiting time for surgeons in the UK are at the moment (I expect them to go up a bit in the next few months to be honest). I am thinking of going to Kneeshaw in Hull as I like the results I have seen and I am based in Leeds.

I'd really like to have surgery by spring at the latest (I am 14lb over my "perfect BMI and whilst I think BMI is not an indicator of health, I am using that marker to be a target to reach so I have something to aim for in the mean time, but I am not outside the BMI limit).

I'm in a very low paid job (12p an hour above minimum wage) and have been working 45 hour weeks because I am skint and have a career development loan to pay back and I want to move jobs. Also, I'm a support worker and I'd like to do something where I'm not misgendered so much and having to explain being trans all the time... In short, I like most of my job and I'm not a sad panda, but long term I want more money, more spare time and less emotional energy spent in my paid work for my outside life!

I feel like things are on hold, so any estimates on time frames, or tips for dealing with the cack of waiting would be very much appreciated if people can.  :( My binder is wearing out too and I have to get a new one and that's a lot of money for me on my income... Ughhhhhh!

Keep tellin' myself this won't be forever!

Yesterday Dr Curtis (transhealth) gave me a list of 4 top surgeons in the UK and said 1 of them (I cant remember which sorry) has only a 2 week waiting list, and another has a 6 month waiting list. One of these was Kneeshaw, the others are Andrew Yellend (Brighton), Miles Berry (London) and Gary Sterne (Worcester). It might be worth ringing around and asking, good luck with your surgery :)
