I just wanted to say hi to everyone here and ask a few questions.
I told a little about myself https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,2319.0.html <---there.

But here are the questions:
1) Ive tried going to the chat a few times and everytime it shows pretty much a blank screen with smileys on the side. nothing to click on nor to really type in. Dont know if Im missing a driver or whatnot necessary to view it.
2) What in the world is Wiki?
3) How come I cant view other peoples profiles?
4) And how many posts do I need inorder to send txt msgs?

Thanx,
  •

Sara

Erica, welcome. You may need Java which you can download by doing a search for the latest java thingy. WIKI is "what I know is" more on that in Susan's Wiki post. Sometimes I cannot view other peoples profiles as they may have a private profile and not a public one (dont ask me why that is) and I dont know about txt msgs, I thought that was something you did on your mobile.

Maybe someone else can explain it all better than I can as I am not up on all of this technical stuff.

Sara.

Erica,

I'm having the same trouble with CHAT and I hope someone out there can help.  I tried to download the java applet and nothing happened.  Maybe I didn't put it into the correct spot on the drive?

Thanks, Sara, I never know that WIKI was an acronym.  All I know it as is a great source of info on transgender and intersex conditions.

I'm sure one of the moderators will set us straight if this is incorrect but I believe that one needs to have a certain number of posts before private messages can be sent and profiles can be viewed.  I also think that rule applies for uploading a picture.

hope this helps!

As far as chat goes all I get with this browser is the nice window with the icons on the left and the message "If you see the message: Do you want to trust the signed applet distrubuted by "Jpilot Software Company"? You must click on yes in order for the chat to function" at the bottom. My end here never tries to download the applet because I have java off on this browser. Perhaps that is the same situation you have Erica? Alternatively stand alone irc clients such as mIRC, xchat or bitchx work nice enough.

As for number of posts, please see: Post Ranks in the Announcements board.

Hellen, as for your chat problems Um, I don't think you normally get a chance to decide where to put the applet (the browser should put it in it's plugin or extensions directory or the like.)

Also, in addition, Wiki is Hawaiian for quick *wink*, see also what Wikipedia has to say.

Thnx Kimberly!

One issue is that the pop-up leading me to the java applet doesn't pop up so I went to a download site to get it.

I just thought of something .  .   .    I think I have pop-ups turned off!

Ooh! I'll go try .....  thnx agn,
h

I for one dont have anything to choose to download or whatnot. it just goes to the chat screen and is blank. I might have to just download mIRC and use that.

Jemand von Deutschland. Sehr nett.

HI Erika,

On Susan's Place Pages there is a lovely lady to the left at the top off the page. then the title. Below the title are More titles separated by a straight bar. These are in Purple Color. The second row the last word is where you find the title Wiki. With your mouse click on the word Wiki and that is how you get into the Wiki page from any page here at Susan's.

I realize that ther others sent you links in their reply posts but if in the future you want to get to the Wiki pages you'd have to keep going back to that post. This way you can access the different areas of Suisan's Place site from any page you are on.

There are two ways to view a persons profile, 1.) Click on the persons name you want to view the profile for. The name can be at the top leftside of the post or the name in the Forum Index in the colunm that tells who started the post or the far right colunm that tells the name of the person that made the last post. 2.) To the left of a persons post where they sometimes have a picture if you'll move ondown to where you see the little pictures of a person or envelope ect. placing you mouse on each one of the pisture will tell you what each on is for. the First one of the person is personal Profile. click you mouse on it and it will open the proflie of that person.

I don't think there is a # of messages before you can personal message a person. if you go to the same place to the left of the message you are view of and individual that you want to Personal Message. Those same little pictures have one for personal message also click on it with your mouse and you'll be able to send that person a personal message.

I Hope this helps. Hope I didn't confuse you more.

Smiles,
Peggiann

Erica,

Meine Eltern fuhr aus Deutschland eher als ich geboren war.  Ich war in Amerika geboren und wohne in New York. (My parents came from Germany before I was born.  I was born in America and live in New York.)

That's why I can read and write a litle in German.  My old neighborhood had many German families and, as German's will, formed a club ( Deutsch-Amerikanisches Bund) that offered instruction in German reading, writing, culture and history.  I hated the extra schoolwork but some of it apparently stuck.  Although my grammer is atrocious I can usually make myself understood.  Now though, I usually only speak the old language with my mom who, at 78 yrs old and 53 years in the US, still speaks with a German accent.

I wish I looked that good, it's not a picture of me.  I have not yet invested in a digital camera and I have no current photos to scan in (which I would have to do at work) that present me in the way I would like.  But, thanks for the compliment anyway!

Vielen Dank,
helen

Maybe if you girls are still having problems with the Chat thing, someone could tell us how to setup a chat client like icechat or something like that as these programs are fully supported with or without java.

IT is nice to use Susan's Chat embedded on her page but if you are problems then it would be good to have a list of supported chat software and their setup for Susan's Chat.

As if Susan doesnt have enough to do already!

Perhaps https://www.susans.org/chat/clientinfo.html would be of use?

I German term I know is "Blonde Geneug"  only this is Australian slang (or used to be) there must be some special term for these types of sayings/slang :)
Anyway I am told a German would have no idea about what you were on about if you said blonde geneug to him/her :)

Someone told me that fanny in Australia refers to the front side and not the back side as it does in the states is this true?

Sara

Hey Mel, I never knew those kinda words existed and I am from OZ. That was very funny reading I must say.

Erica, I see you have added your pic. You look great!

I think chocolate would have to be a girls best friend as it has helped me out a few times when I have been feeling down.

It is in Britain. I embarrassed myself greatly by referring to my fanny pack once.
