So I have been consistently shaving my legs, chest and face for the past few days and I'm starting to worry that all of my hair is starting to come in a lot faster now. Just a few months ago I could almost go a month without shaving my face and now I start to get a stubble just a day after I shave. Is there anything I can do for the next month until I get my letter for hormones?

For least observable hair for time invested I've always preferred waxing, it's not hard to do on your own though waxing - kits will certainly cost more than shaving.

Will waxing also work on my face?

Waxing the beard is extremely painful and needs to be done by someone who knows what they are doing. It can also lead to a lot of ingrown hairs and infections. The waxing will mean that everything waxed won't come back for a while but the growth of hair in the beard is fairly erratic and you'll still need to be dealing with new growth that wasn't waxed the first time on a fairly regular basis. Also, it is not a permanent solution and damage to the follicle shafts can then make it difficult to deploy more effective longterm solutions such as electrolysis or laser. If you have light skin and dark hair I'd suggest taking a look at laser for beard removal while you wait for HRT.

Waxing for body hair is much more effective than shaving, depending on how hairy you are to start you usually get a month of minimal hairiness. Again, I would suggest someone who knows what they're doing... it can be painful and some spots are hard to reach! I had a full below the neck body wax a couple of times (except the pubes!) and it was remarkably "invigorating"...  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Until I got my laser treatments, I used to use an epilator on my legs.  I don't know I could have taken in elsewhere, but I got very used to it there, and I think it works as well as waxing, but less messy.

So is there a reason why I have been getting red bumps all over my thighs after I shave?

Waxing is for a short-term purpose. Waxing causes ingrowth and red bumps.

For long-term, laser or electrolysis are the best, but their effects can vary individually.

In my case, I used Tria home laser, and the results were quite satisfactory.

It's a thing that happens - see here for solutions.

Test it in a small area first as some people are are allergic to aloe. I knew about the plant in my late teens and it was used to treat burn victims but there is another side to it. We had a salesman who was going on a sales trip with my boss and he bough a new brand of shaving cream with aloe for the trip. He used it and broke out in a rash and couldn't shave the entire trip or several days after he returned. Instead of a clean shaved salesman, we had a salesman with a messy beard attempting to put on a presentable image.

Okay, so I am on a little bit of a budget. So What would be better in the long term? The home laser, clinical laser treatments or electrolysis?

I seem to remember the home-use laser is $500, I've been quoted as high as $300 per electrolysis visit (but they didn't say how long the appointment would be),. I'd be surprised if you could get either laser or electrolysis done for less than $100/hour. Electrolysis is traditionally considered more permanent, however I've had friends who did it extensively and then found laser actually worked better for them. **Note ** those friends had very dark hair and light skin, making them good candidates for laser.

In the search links Grace gave you, shaving with the grain of your hair is the best tip along with being fresh out of a hot shower. The **best** prep  I know for shaving is what they do in barber shops, run extremely  hot water on a towel, wring the water out and then wrap the towel around the area to be shaved. The water should be soon hot that your hands will be close to scalding when you wring the water out and the towel will feel marvelous going onto your skin. And makes for a much smoother shave.

Fwiw I've shaved with a straight razor for 40 years, chose that because I hated giving the Gillette company a buck for every blade. Over a lifetime that's paid off well (I still use the razor I bought 40 years ago but in the meantime they've gotten more expensive and learning to sharpen them correctly isn't for everyone).

Waxing, I went from bear to bare after 5 or 6 sessions. It's a bit painful first time but each time hurts less

If you hair color is black or dark, then I would recommend Tria home laser. It is not expensive, and you can do by yourself whenever you have leisure time. But be patient, as it takes longer time (at least 6 months) for you to see any visible effect.

There is no truth to the old warning about shaving causing more hair to grow. (CIS women would have very hairy legs if that were the case)  Hormones have cut down my body hair by at least 50% or more in some areas and the growth has slowed a lot.

Still, i go to a professional to get waxed - my torso and bikini area. My legs i shave. I  do believe your skin gets more used to waxing, epilating or shaving over time.

Hair doesn't grow in faster or thicker when you shave. But it looks like it does. The reason is that the uncut hair tapers to a thin point. The shaved hair is blunt and the same thickness all the way. So it looks thicker.

I shave almost every inch of my body. I've been doing it for several years now. Waxing would last longer, but it's been out of my budget.
