The end so close that I can taste and smell it and now that the last hurdles are out of the way I can now finish the final preparations for my SRS. Due to my preexisting health conditions of Epilepsy, Chronic kidney disease and a history coming into transition of high blood pressure I was required to get 3 clearance letters. Now I knew that these letters wouldn't be any issue since I knew all my doctor's were on board and knew SRS was essential for my wellbeing. However, it doesn't mean I didn't sweat it out as they had to be written. In May of 2015, I was told I would just need one from the Nephrologist but when it came time to do the call with the nurse to make the final health requirements for surgery I was told of the other two that I would need. I would end up also needing them from my primary care physician and my neurologist. Now the neurologist flat out said he would sign it, but only because it was medically necessary. He then went on with when he said a seizure could likely occur thanks to this wha . The end result is my seizure medication is being adjust coming into surgery to try and prevent that from occurring along with close monitoring and preparation to ensure no problems arise.

Now the nephrologist, I always knew basically what he was going to say.His restrictions will be about dosing and the fact that NSAID's are out along with what to watch for. The primary care doctor was by far the one which turned out to be the easiest minus the fact she took a much closer listen to parts of my body that normally don't get checked to ensure everything was safe for surgery.

In the end, I was finally confidently able to order my plane tickets for when I have SRS and focus on the other tasks at hand like figuring out where the family I live with will be when I'm away. Hugs

That's great Mariah that you were cleared.

Looks like October has quite a few folks.  I'm in September just a short bit earlier.  In fact, I also just bought my plane tickets yesterday.  Just 30 days away now for SRS.

Thanks and Yay congrats for you too. Hugs

Wishing you a successful surgery and a quick recovery Mariah. I'm not to far behind you 114 days to go for me, yes, I'm counting!

Dear Mariah,
It's funny but when talking about most surgeries, most people worry about the actual surgery. For transgender people, (at least for this one) it is almost more stress about getting to the surgery. With your extenuating circumstances, I'm sure you have been through the wringer with worry about getting to the surgery. I am very happy that a good person like you is realizing your dream. Congratulations!
Moni
If I ever offend you, let me know. It's not what I am about.

Awesome news, glad everything was looked at + checked out + approved "in triplicate"!

And now....the wait.

Trust me, the time goes by fast the last 3 months. Tip: Don't dwell on the surgery, the stay, the recovery...have a plan in case Anxiety or Fear comes around for a sneak visit.

And don't read any "bad outcomes" on the Interwebz.  ;)
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...
